"a fine career"
A friggin fine career?
Have you been stranded on Mars for 4 years Sir Pastrami?
Cotton is one of the greatest Friars who ever lived...brass balls and ice water in his veins
You need a one week "time-out" suspension from posting
unbelievable

Draif wrote: " Plenty of guys produce as freshman, not just Smith. Especially Top 50s. My recollection is that Michael Smith was a prop 48 and DNP as a frosh but I could be wrong...perhaps it was a severe common cold. But I have a serious question for any of the learned fans here: What would the Friars have looked like if Smith did play as a Frosh? [b The 90-91 team was pretty good..Murdock was a star obviously. Team went 10 deep. Problem was Barnes couldn't coach them out of a paper bag.

I don’t recall anyone being disappointed with Cotton’s contributions as a frosh. MAL on the other hand has been very disappointing. There were people here predicting 25-30 min a game from him.

The difference with sham and to a lesser extent curry, there was no senior PG and they were walking into teams with zero expectations...MAL would be getting minutes by default in those situations just as sham would be getting minutes this year...I'm not sure how nice sham would've played as the backup pg.
Now I don't buy the "he'll be fine" just because. There are major shooting issues and he doesn't appear to be a great passer. He may be fine but he needs to work his ass off.
90-91 went 10 deep? Murdocks senior year with phelps and smith playing in Peterson? They went 1 deep.
Dex - smith in 91 or 2017? He wouldn't have hurt the situation. The kid that got screwed by the entire thing was phelps. Remember 48s weren't even allowed to practice then. Smith wasn't a scorer though and I can say with 100% certainty he would've been suspended for that bc game which probably cost us the bid.

He might have been faster than Cotton and Dunn.

10 guys that played more than 13 mpg...but team had a ton of underachievers on it. Troy Brown played a decent amount as the 11th man and Franklin Western as the 12th man. Not too shabby.
I always thought that Bragg was definitely underrated. Guy was a warrior..but might have been the worst ft shooter in program history.

Dex,
You seem to have missed my sarcasm. TheMick is missing the point of including Cotton. Including Cotton only shows that there is room for MAL to go on and potentially have the same type of all-time Friar greats career.
No get back in the URIne cesspool for your silver sneakers class and don't forget to take your goggles off after class!!
....gotta love friartown...

Two observations: Bede who was trying to sway Duke to come to VT, was another top New England PG last year. He is giving VT less production than MAL is giving us. Maybe New England PGs are slow to develop..................... Buzz gets the Pete Gillen "Sweat" Award.

Thanks for clearing this up for me mikemc. I now know with certainty the you and BC Joe had the same English composition teacher who may have re-located to the mid-atlantic to school Walk also.
