Agree. Point taken on the adviser's as well. See no reason why Austin would not be granted a waiver - he never played a minute of basketball. If his academics are in order he will most likely get that waiver.
Said right after the year long suspensions that both would most likely be gone. Was actually surprised to see Bullock was back and behind the bench.

Walk, Jeez. If memory serves me correctly, didn't the "core" SuperFans tell us that Austin would not transfer? I thought he would never sit out another year? Another banner day in FriarTown. Are we still the Kings of New England?? BroncoBilly said: Walk, Jeez. If memory serves me correctly, didn't the "core" SuperFans tell us that Austin would not transfer? The man is currently working through BigEast Boards circa 2006 to find some new material posts that he can comment on.... I am seriously wondering of you two got beat up alot in HS and at PC....nothing else explains this stuff. If so, I apologize on behalf of all of us who weren't male cheerleaders or who made fun of your white coats or something. Why else would supposed FANS seem to get so much happiness out of the program's problems???

A setback for sure, but one the Cooley can recover from. In fact, we just gained a ship.

This is more than a setback info - the implications on many levels are quite serious. Thinking Cooley has to be more than upset with this whole mess...and the recruiting has just gotten that much harder.

what good does it do to gain a ship? whoever we fill it with is going to get suspended for borderline consensual sex.

I have some horrific news to report. B Austin is GONE!!! He's leaving school. No reasons or destinations given to me. If there were ever a time for the Nic Cage quote - "Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger." This is it! PS At least we now have that open scholarship for Alex Murphy. hey at last if u get this one right you will be batting .500 instead of .000

What a pathetic collection of commentary on this. It's incredible to me. Austin escapes indictment here because PC took it's time considering a reversal of its original verdict to wipe him out for the year. Yet, nobody indicts Austin over his behavior? I also loath the "Cooley is in trouble recruiting now". Yeah, sure. Whatever. Ed will get players. Period. Now, will he smartly take enough guards, properly evaluate the risks of guys like Ledo and Austin? I dunno, but he'll get guys. And can we stop engaging all the incarnations of FD (I've lost count how many of them there are), each of whom uses argumentative hyrogrifics to parse observations against the unknowns of what a player eventually becomes - all mixed with smarmy, irrelevant attempts to cheap-shot fans for their swipes at an archival like UConn (which I hate just as much incidentally).
Austin is about to become what the Duke Mondy's of our past have become - nice box scores wrapped around a big fat nothing of accomplishment. This comment will get called two-faced rationalization by the likes of FD but it's more than that. It's seeing a person for the limits of their behavior, their mistakes. Karma is a snitch, as they say. I wanted Austin in black & white and I wanted him to stay. Had he done so I would have praised the wisdom of his decision, the opportunity to erase his indiscretion and to rewrite his history, thereby not becoming the next Mondy; but he has chosen otherwise and my calling him out doesn't make me (or those thinking as I do) an apologists or PC lackey. Instead, it makes us right.
I dont know if the PC administration should have give this kid a pass, I really don't. I can't decide if his actions should have resulted in expulsion of suspension or neither. I can't. I can suggest PC should have given heavier weight to Cooley's thoughts on it though and that Austin should have remained here regardless. Of this I am certain. For all the remaining sanctimonious bull-sheet I'm reading here, save it. It makes you neither enlightened or insightful, just petty.

rock, the last top 50 recruit to leave pc without playing got a guaranteed 4 year contract from the mavericks.
seriously though... you can't compare austin to any of the kids you mentioned. the closest might be brown and brewington... but they stayed at school for a few years before fizzing out.

I stand on my comments peeps: I both wanted Austin to remain and, having decided not to, see his collegiate career, as a result, of little measurable success. Ledo? Who knows. Different situation entirely. The Brews, Mondy's et al may have a few nice box scores - and I wanted them to stay - but little success in any real measure. Why? Because that's what happens in life when you don't do the right thing. And the point of my essay is to defend my right to want them to stay while predicting their failure elsewhere. I know that's a buzz saw with some posters and I wanted to explain the thinking. Take it for what you will.

Shamrock,
I have the same account on here today as I had when I was first invited to sign up for the board. There are no multiple "incarnations" of FD. Only one. As I said an hundred times. You can change your display name in the settings; if you quote one of my posts, you'll see the name will say "friarD". But thanks for telling us how we should think and feel about Austin leaving our beloved PC.
So, Austin is a player that is "a box score wrapped around a big fat nothing of accomplishment?" If this is the case, why would Cooley have put forth so much effort recruiting him? Seems odd that the 2 players you chose to compare him to were McIver and Mondy. Where were these comparisons earlier in the year?
