Not that I'm in favor because their "big-school" facilities will put several Big East members at a disadvantage but........I think it's inevitable that UConn returns to the Big East...the Friars need to land some major recruits before it happens...

I don't want it to happen either, but should it come to pass, then UConn should be forced to repatriate its portion of the NCAA shares that the "Catholic 7" left on the table when the Old BE broke apart. This is only fitting, as we'd be repatriating the Huskies with the "BE" brand that they covet.
If my memory serves me correctly, then UConn is one of three schools that split almost $100M in shares that the Catholic 7 left behind...that would amount to about $4M being transferred to each of the 7.
So, transfer the value of those NCAA Shares back to PC, GTown, Nova, SJU, SHU, DePaul and Marquette. And following that, the Conference needs to raise the financial bye-out that UConn must pay the next time that they look to bolt.

I like the idea. They would ultimately give us a true rival which we lost when both Uconn and BC left the Big East. On the down side, imagine when Geno's girls come to town. That would be real ugly.

remember that the Catholic 7
So what were they supposed to do sit back and get involved with SMU and Memphis? Of course they left. I don't want ucon and if it does happen the C-7 needs something back. Nobody wants them and they --really-- don't want the BE. My guess is Tranghese is telling the Presidents that the BET @ MSG is in the balance because I can't think of any other reason to let them in?

My recollection after BC made their departure was the BE voted down some ridiculously large tv deal and it was later reported that Pitt and Gtown were behind turning that deal down...pitt did so b/c they were gonzo...not sure why gtown did. I believe there was at least one other bball only that voted that way as well.
Anyway, we kicked them out so I'm not sure how we can expect them to pay it back. This has Mike Ts hands all over it. Puts us in a tough spot b/c he's been great to PC and is now working for all sides.
Anyway, reports are the BE tv #s are putrid again so maybe this helps.

Look, I'd prefer UConn suffer in the AAC.
However, more important to me and the PC basketball program, is that we get another TV contract that pays us enough to at least compete nationally in basketball. If the FS1 ratings for BE basketball are in the toilet, we could be looking at very short money when this contract is up. It's hard to argue that UConn wouldn't help in the ratings department.
Again, I'd like to see UConn go the way of BC basketball (that is, beating us at their place every other year despite sucking) but my biggest concern is long term financial success of the league.
