OK mike you malcontent...ok the guy didn't foul at Georgetown...TWICE. Give it a rest for crice sakes...he wasn't the one shooting the ball last year. BTW mike and Bird, he wasn't the one controlling the minutes, of course it was Willard. Cripes don't fall into the Walk trap complaining he used too many players/rotations. When the set rotation flopped by under-performing kids, he had to try more guys. Now the guy doing the complaining used SIX PGs during the year as reflected in his posts. Meanwhile you can hear Mike and Me yelling at the games "Get That Guy Outta There" Anyway the bottom line is don't get me mad...unless, of course, we don't get any great verbals this month !!!!!

That clip of Gillespie and Cooley hugging is awesome and it speaks volumes of both people. Gillespie had a rough tournament before last night. He injured his hand in the scrimmage at Alumni and outside of a hot start in the opening minutes of the first game, he struggled and didn’t play well at all. I was unable to watch yesterday’s game but it certainly appeared as if he had a great game and I am happy he was able to help lead the team to the medal stand. Through it all, he kept fighting and you could see he had nothing else left to give as he basically collapsed into Cooley’s arms. I am sure Collin has zero regrets about being on the team and from the twitter reactions of the players mentioned in KFar’s article, everyone loved the experience and benefited from it.
We have certainly had plenty of debate about whether or not this was the right decision to have Ed coach the team, but it sure seems like it was a great experience and I for one am very happy he did this. Look at the impact he had on these young men, they built up incredible trust and respect in just a short period of time and I have to think everyone on this team posting on social media about the games can only be a good thing for Ed and PC. This may not resonate in a large way, but it will certainly reach a variety of current collegiate players and more importantly, a bunch of high school players. Cooley can point to clips like this showing the impact he can have on a young man’s life and anything that mentions admiration for coach is always welcomed. I am proud to have had four of our guys represent this team with pride and dignity and I am very grateful that it was Cooley in the driver’s seat. I sure hope it helps in recruiting, but at the very least it was a great experience for all involved and I am very happy for all of the players and coaches.

Gillespie started and struggled again in the first Q. Duke came in and he struggled as well. Then Gillespie came back and he was playing like he was possessed. I think he scored 8 straight to regain the lead. Diallo had a huge mistake to end the half but he was relentless in the 2nd half. WPRI had a good clip this AM of a bunch of Alpha baskets but I couldn't find it oon their website. Besides Gillespie there was this quote from Powell: Powell also forged a bond with Cooley, saying "words can't even explain," how much he respects the Providence coach. "Since the first day I stepped foot on Providence campus (for training camp) he has shown me nothing but love," Powell said.

Well said Birdman.
