Bird man pretty much summed it up. David didn’t play his best game, but the kid stands out and was very active. He should start at PG for the Pan Am team. When the light bulb goes on there, he’s a 1st round pick with a jumper. If he can prove him self as a PG, he’s got lottery potential. He’s our biggest threat of being a early draft entry. I expect a lot of maturation from Duke this year, and think he’ll get a lot of NBA talk this season. Reeves got most of his limited run when the game was beyond out of hand in the 2nd half, but made the best of his minutes. He nailed 3 threes in a row towards the end, one of them didn’t count, and made everyone happy with the alley oop from Duke...great that it looks like he should make the roster over McDermott and Malinowski...he’s gotta be the best spot up shooter on the team after Powell. Watson is just a beast and the other team had no one to match up with his power. Giselle and Wideman looked kind of washed up. Guys like Theo John or Tyrique Jones, etc would have been better here. Diallo was quiet but nothing to worry about. You pretty much already know what you have with him. He’s a very good player. Hopefully he can be more consistent this year, especially from the FT line as he had a few wtf moments there last year. Also say Maliek with Bynum in the stands, and Gantt and Nichols were around as well. Kalif was helping with the score table as was noted...also saw Garces and Hanke near the baseline. Great event for 10 bucks, and great exposure for Cooley, the school, the conference, and experience for 4 of our guys. Big expectations for PC this year. No biggee pcfriarsfan94 but the word baseline was eliminated as a basketball term about 8 years ago. It is called the endline. Lots of people get it wrong. As a former basketball Interpreter, it's ingrained in me to let people know. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

correct, Virgin Islands. Very bad team but did have Walter Hodge who played for the Gators a few years back.

2 other things:
1) Virgin Island's Head Coach wore a puffy winter coat for the duration of the game. 2) Strange rule: Once the ball hits the rim, you are allowed to knock it away even if its still in the cylinder. Hoping Big Nate doesn't try to do this in November.

Here comes Thumper to the Vig in his puffy coat for a Cooley Cooler!! ....gotta love friartown...

Don't get behind Thumperella going through security at The Dunk. They have to check each puffy roll for contraband. Last year I overheard one guy say he smelled Baloney.

Game is at the half, USA up by 5. Venezuela is big and physical, but not a dynamic offensive team. Some thoughts:
Powell is awesome. He might be a first team all American and was easily our best player. Alpha only scored two points but was our second best player. He was a menace on defense, rebounded well and got to some good spots but couldn’t finish including a botched breakaway dunk after he kneed the ball out of his hands on the gather. Duke vastly outplayed Gillespie. He had a stretch where he burned his man with a behind the back dribble and then dropped a dime to Groselle for a dunk, finished a reverse layup in transition and then blew by his man again, got fouled at the rim and made both foul shots. He also looked confident going against some tough defense and didn’t commit a turnover. AJ and Nate were the only 2 guys not to play at all though Cale only played 1 minute.
