'82 it's safe to watch just the last 7 + minutes not too many refs call a foul on a block/charge with 6/10 of a second left in a tie game fortunately one guy did and oh yeah he called it on them WHEW On the replay (I know you weren't privy to it being courtside) I think it showed Bullock clearly being pushed by the defender. Ballsy call by the ref but the right call. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Georgetown should have been as lucky as to have a ref willing to make a call in the final seconds of regulation against Syracuse on Saturday

Georgetown should have been as lucky as to have a ref willing to make a call in the final seconds of regulation against Syracuse on Saturday I liked the no-call and I like when players can be physical without having to worry about petty calls, let alone calls that determine the winner or loser of a game. When official suck, they suck for everybody and I think it sucks even more having to read about how much they suck. Sorry '82...I guess this is my way of blowing off some Frair steam.

Honestly, What a weak call to send Bullock to the free throw line.
There didn't appear to be much contact as I looked at the play over and over.
It may have been a foul in the ref's eyes but I would have swallowed the whistle and let them settle the outcome in overtime.
.... off topic question: Can anyone explain to me why the Pittsburgh catch and stretch was not a touchdown when he crossed the goal line? I assume because it was a pass and nota run when he crossed the line? But after the catch, where he had control, is crossing the goal line before being touched down not a TD? Then too was there pass interference prior to the tip and end zone interception when the game seemed to be going Pittsburgh's way? Exciting few minutes of football.

Then too was there pass interference prior to the tip and end zone interception when the game seemed to be going Pittsburgh's way? Exciting few minutes of football. Not a weak call at all. It was the correct call. I taught the officials to officiate the entire game, in this case the entire 40 minutes. To do otherwise is to favor one team over the other. And officials are taught to not arbitrate (or swallow whistles) which fouls/violations to call. You get in trouble that way. Bullock was pushed in the back left shoulder as he was attempting a tip in. It affected him doing that. He then collided with another player under the hoop, which caused people to think it was a block/charge. But when the camera focused in on the offender, the Stony Brook player did not complain at all. He knew that he was caught. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Excellent and correct explanation by OUR resident Ref #neverthumper
as for the FB question Daddy-O raised, the receiver is not a Runner until he has possession AND makes a FB runner's movement
The Rule sucks, the call was perfect
Now before one of you specimens respond, take it to the OT Board where everything except basketball belongs
"I Mean It...Don't Make Me Come Up There" any of you birds ever hear that from your real Daddy-O? Me and my brother did
ps Draif...please go to OT Board an '82's fabulous the Carolina Way thread and read my last post

Thanks Dex...
I fear there will be wailing and moaning for most of the remainder of this Friar basketball season...
Man, the Johnny's with all their warts would've blown the Friars out of the gym yesterday with their speed and energy against the walking wounded Friars.
Coach Cooley was so upbeat yesterday in his postgame interview... But I was whistling in the graveyard out of fear for what is to come...

I don't think the stony brook coach was too pleased with that call....and the extra foul shots we got against brown were comical...but that crap evens out.
Dad - I saw a deer in headlights during that. interview. Apparently our coach guaranteed improvement with a week of practice after umass and could barely keep a straight face when asked the question and claiming yesterday was progress. It was as if he's tried all tricks and almost admittedly has zero clue.

He's got good reason to have that 1000 yard stare... Post traumatic stress disorder .... Shell shock,
Between the injuries and his shortened "deepest team" he was calling Tom Planek too save the day.
One of my HS gym teachers played briefly in the ABA until he tore up a knee. He used to roll out the basketballs and let us run.
Coach Cooley must be thinking about that strategy heading into Big East play.

edit on the stat. 58 assists 74 TOs....posted on other hood and unconfirmed.... This is correct and coincides with the injury to Kyron. In the first six games, they had 94 assists.

While i am thrilled to have MAL on our team, opponents are figuring out that he doesn't distribute the ball very well. That alone should be where Cooley and MAL should concentrate, not that you can acquire that skill in the next 36 hours mind you. 🙄

Let's see now
he can't shoot

Now he can't pass
Conclusion: Don't renew MAL's ship

Let's see now he can't shoot and Now he can't pass Conclusion: Don't renew MAL's ship Man Of Spectacular mis-Information Despite his struggles from the line( which improved some late Sunday), I was hoping MAL would keep the ball and drive the lane the last possession. I liked him better than anyone on the floor to score in the lane or get fouled. Since we only needed 1 point, I felt he would get one FT if fouled. instead the ball went to Jackson who drove and either tried a backboard pass to Bullock or he made an awful lunging layup shot from 8'. MAL will be fine as the year goes on. It is interesting that EC planned to have him come in and play PG and moves Kyron to the 2 during the OC games. Most freshman PG come in shooting first since that is what they did in AAU. There probably would have been less pressure letting MAL play the 2 and gradually move him to PG. But I assume Coach feels he is better learning the PG role quickly since White was not a great option as a backup at PG. Hopefully we see more movement against Houston. It seems like every trip late on Sunday was a screen for MAL and let him create.
