If PC comes out unscathed, let's all be thankful that Cooley didn't retain Amhurst University's most famous graduate.

Heads will roll, but schools at fault will deflect blame and use power and leverage do whatever necessary to continue making money.

Rumors: coming out of UL have Rick getting canned tomorrow but that's to be expected and I doubt it will happen.
However: I think UL will likely spend the next two days assessing where they are at. If it's on tape that one of Rick's staff is offering a 2019 cash, Rick is probably done. He could be gone on Friday with a late news dump. Saying he didn't know likely won't work this time. They can get out of his deal--I would think-- without paying him off. But who do they get? The next year is going to be focused on probation (again) and they may not even be able to take the court eventually. So do they get some guy to just run the place for a few seasons before getting back in the game in 2020?
Also, could they get kicked out of ACC tournys for the foreseeable future?

A late night read on the Louisville board has me feeling pretty convinced that Rick will be gone by end of day today (Wednesday).
I can see the headlines now:
"House of Cards"... "Cardinal Sins"... "FBI Report De-Syphered"...

www.knoxnews.com/story/sports/college/louisville/2017/09/26/louisville-basketball-coach-rick-pitino-adidas-scandal-college-basketball/704604001/Slick Rick's comments after landing Bowen are included here: ludicrous at best. Reference is made to his involvement with some issues at Hawaii??? Well sure enough, Google it, he was implicated way back in the 1970's...flying kids to Hawaii, providing car, and of all things, giving out free Mc Donald's coupons!!! Additionally, the clause in his contract regarding responsibility for the actions of assistant coaches is listed word for word. AND, more interesting is the revelation that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Louisville called upon the president of the university to fire him over the summer, prior to all this crap. How he, along with the AD Tom Jurich, survive this remains to be seen but who knows, considering the still to be resolved UNC 18 year academic fraud fiasco? Difference here are Federal indictments to others, likely to spread to Louisville over both the Bowen purchase and the alleged meeting in Las Vegas regarding a 2019 recruit... .. Fascinating is another report that the entire NCAA hierarchy was kept in the dark here as the sting rolled; Emmert has indicated such stating that the Tuesday announcement was news to him...wowsa!!!

There but for the grace of God goes our beloved Program.
And so now, we pray...

Question #1: (At state schools in particular) If there are convictions, will that open the door for lawsuits against school admins claiming negligence with taxpayers money? Question #2: Will the courts attempt to clawback the funds? Question #3: Feds can shutdown a business, can they shutdown a basketball program? Ie: Go beyond the NCAA.

Some of the talk on ESPNU/SiriusXM this morning was of the possibility of head coaching vacancies at Louisville, Auburn, and USC...unless I missed it (possible), it's curious that they are implying Miller survives at Arizona.

Important to remember that James Gatto has been with Adidas for 23 years and Merle Code formerly worked for Nike...for a federal case, the money discussed so far is fairly light...the headline splash for hoop fans will come when head coaches are terminated and, possibly, charged with crimes...but I think the Feds are really after Adidas, Nike, and the other real money behind the scene.
It's not the Feds' mission to clean up big-time college sports...rather, they're after criminals and the perps can be found nearest the money...the big money.

I have an itsy bitsy teenie weenie measure of more confidence in the DOJ than the ncaa enforcement people. My suspicion is that there will be a tiny amount of name coaches and name programs effected and the bouquet of the cesspool stench will emerge alive and well. The DA will get all the ink he needs to further his career in whatever venue he chooses.
I'm sure some bird-brain fans will think the game will be cleaned up and a more level playing field will emerge. Poppycock These are the same morons who might think The Yum Center will be going dark after this scandal. Poppycock
Most non-bird-brainer fans already realize that there are an enormous number of BB & FB head coaches who are scumbags and that they protect one another like a lioness with her cubs. They are sheltered by the ncaa, by their AD's, college President, and the so called "journalists" that cover them.
NCAA sports is awash with money and that root of all evil won't change anytime soon.
