www.knoxnews.com/story/sports/college/louisville/2017/09/26/louisville-basketball-coach-rick-pitino-adidas-scandal-college-basketball/704604001/Slick Rick's comments after landing Bowen are included here: ludicrous at best. Reference is made to his involvement with some issues at Hawaii??? Well sure enough, Google it, he was implicated way back in the 1970's...flying kids to Hawaii, providing car, and of all things, giving out free Mc Donald's coupons!!! Additionally, the clause in his contract regarding responsibility for the actions of assistant coaches is listed word for word. AND, more interesting is the revelation that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Louisville called upon the president of the university to fire him over the summer, prior to all this crap. How he, along with the AD Tom Jurich, survive this remains to be seen but who knows, considering the still to be resolved UNC 18 year academic fraud fiasco? Difference here are Federal indictments to others, likely to spread to Louisville over both the Bowen purchase and the alleged meeting in Las Vegas regarding a 2019 recruit... .. Fascinating is another report that the entire NCAA hierarchy was kept in the dark here as the sting rolled; Emmert has indicated such stating that the Tuesday announcement was news to him...wowsa!!! Remember, the NCAA cannot compel you to speak and Andre McGee refused to speak. These guys are going to speak to the FBI.....

ESPN's Michael Eaves reported Wednesday that Rick Pitino is expected to be fired as head coach of the Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team.

Here's a question: Will players who took payments forfeit their amateur status? IMHO, that should happen.

I'm sure that someone's going to follow up by creating a new string, but here's the latest rumblings (minutes old)...
University of Louisville instructed the AD to fire Pitino this morning. AD refused, and he (along with Pitino) have been fired.

Jon RothsteinVerified account @jonrothstein 11m11 minutes ago Questions now for Louisville: Who hires next head coach? Who is next head coach? Which players will be ineligible? Will players transfer?

Wow - not fired (yet) . unpaid administrative leave. Appears to be really just an HR thing for now - he's not coming back.

Guessing Pitino's lawyer is wrangling so that Rick gets a payout (as though he needs and deserves one) and the ability to "step down on his own terms, for "the good of the program" ( not to mention his legacy - which he should know, is beyond repair).
Louisville fans aren't pleased with the guy and will be amped up ever more - given that Pitino's is seemingly fighting the University. They are Louisville fans first, and have come to recognize that damage Created under Pitino's leadership.
I can't imagine Rick will retire in Kentucky, where Louisville fans have joined UK fans in their lack of respect for the guy.

It's in his deal that he can't be fired without 10 days notice and a vote from Board of Directors.
I doubt it's written in to the contract that UL can void deal if they are investigated by the Feds...but it should be. If the school didn't include some protection --somewhere?-- in a ten year renewing contract they are getting what they deserve. They should fight paying anything at all. Just go away Rick.

Agree '82 he will have to leave town as he has done before to shield himself from verbal abuse.
I heard on the radio they had to give him a 10 day notification of his & Jurich's formal termination or else the school would have to pay their contracts.
Pitino is getting what so many other elite repeat offenders & grievous offenders also deserve(d).
The ncaa has looked the other way so often it's my hope that they too face criminal conspiracy charges.
Do we need a trial to put DadGum Roy, Coach K, Calhoun & Boeheim in Leavenworth? Oh OK damn due process!

A St. John's poster mentioned that Anfernee Simons and Courtney Ramey both decommitted from Louisville today.

"Just go away Rick" I agree with the sentiment, but here's the problem... I sense that Pitino's arrogant enough to think that this entire matter isn't HIS problem... rather, it's HIS LAWYER'S problem to fix!

Anyone else hopes that Pitino gets his $44 mil or whatever as an FU to Louisville?
