We should expect to have a really good year next year with the depth, size and youth. A second weekend run should be the expectation.

We should be better...much better than last year if our existing players improve and some size and depth.
However I look forward to hearing what Walk thinks at this early stage.

By Kevin McNamara Journal Sports Writer
PROVIDENCE – Rodney Bullock will be back with a Providence Friar team that is shaping up as one of the Big East’s best in 2017-18.
Bullock announced Monday that he’s removing his name from the NBA’s draft list and will be at PC for his final season of eligibility in the fall. Bullock, who’ll turn 23 in June, applied for the draft but was not among the 60 players invited by the league to its combine later this month. Players have until May 24 to decide if they want to return to the collegiate ranks.
Bullock led PC in scoring and rebounding last season with 15.7 points and 6.4 boards per contest. The 6-8 Virginia native scored 20 or more points in nine games and was a second team All-Big East selection.
Bullock helped lead the Friars to a 20-13 record and a fourth straight NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

Rodney Bullock: `With a deep roster +the addition of some talented freshmen I think we will have a good team again.' Kmac Off Season development of our returning players may be (in my opinion) the biggest, single factor in what we can expect from the team this coming season. I remain hopeful that enough of our basketball alums (Dunn, Bentil, Henton, Cotton, Batts...) remain around campus for workouts on an extended basis during the summer months, as their work ethic and abilities would be of developmental-value to players on our current roster. Does anyone know if the above mentioned alums (aside from Ben who I know is taking classes around his trip back to Africa) are planning on anything more than on-campus cameos during this off-season? I sense that without Sham around, a few might be conducting workouts elsewhere. Anyone know?

I'd like to see '15-'16 Rodney instead of '16-'17 Rodney. Fewer 3s and more rebounding....

Given the amount of depth we will have next year, I hope Cooley uses it well. When Rodney is engaged and locked in at both ends, he is a worthy all league player. However, we have all seen him go through spurts where he appears lackadaisical and almost disinterested. I think Cooley has often left him in the game to either play through it or because we have been so lacking in offensive options that he felt we needed him out there since he at least posed a threat just by being on the floor. I certainly hope we see very little if any of that latter Rodney, but in the event he does make an appearance, Cooley should now have the luxury of sitting him down for a while so he can clear his head. It's great to have Rodney back in the fold for next year, this is yet another positive development for our 2017-2018 season.

This is Rodney's final run before heading off to make $$ somewhere. I don't know if he was "surprised or disappointed" by the fact that he wasn't extended an invite to the combine - but that would be a motivator to me - if I were in his shoes. Rodney's "body of work" (including his mental preparation and focus) is a mixed bag, with plenty of areas for improvement over the next 12 months.
With more "depth" and continued player development, Ed should have more options at his disposal next season. The competition of playing time among the roster should be another motivator for Rodney.

As expected.
Now it is up to Rodney to get to work and ( hopefully) that includes his game focus. At age 23 he needs to step up and show his maturity during games. Do that and he will be a big plus for the Friars.
