Wish Rodney all the best - kid had a rough road after the Austin mess then the injury. Would love to see him back but think perhaps he will decide to move on...
Do hope he gets his degree - if not now then down the road.

...after all, Rodney was not celebrated on Senior Night... was bentil?
...and wtm - i'll give you the injury but he's pretty lucky to still be on the team...
conn - was it you who anointed Ijax next year's star? Having someone around who can average 15ppg in the BE makes us a better team. I don't necessarily think we're at our best when he's at that number due to the required shots to get there. BUT we do have players who can play that position and dribble and pass better than Rodney does.

In the event that Rodney's done...
5: K. Young (So); D. Dickens (Fr) 4: E. Holt (Sr); N. Watson (Fr) 3: J. Lindsey (Sr); 2/3: A. Diallo (So); I. Jackson (Jr) 2: D. Edwards (RSo) 1: K. Cartwright (Sr); M. White (So)
How would you fill the two available shifts (Position/Class),' with the Departure of next Year's Senior Class and our primary targets from the Class of 2018 in mind ?
I'm thinking another PF (Transfer), and a SF (Transfer) who is capable of scoring off the dribble/drive (as a hedge against the possibility that Swider is our longest shot in the Class of 2018). This means that I'm keeping the Point and Off Guard positions open and available for the likes of Duke and Reeves).

I think Rodney will be back next season.

Agreed he is likely back. He's in a similar position as Batts was in a few years back except Batts had graduated I believe...D league, over seas, or come back to a NCAA team that returns everyone plus Cooley and your HS coach. Would be pretty surprised if he leaves.
I don't think it would be a big blow if he did leave...more minutes for Holt at the 4 is more ideal. Would need Kalif to improve and for the frosh to be legit.
We need a guard and a 3/4 type this spring imo. If Bullock is back, I don't think many minutes are available next season though. Which is why I think 2 sit out transfers could work out well.

I may be in the minority here but I don't think its a bad thing for him to declare. He has nothing to lose unless he foolishly hires an agent. Hopefully he will get some feedback, improve and play like he wants to be a pro next year without upsetting the chemistry of the team.
Maybe he leaves and never comes back. Could be why we haven't heard about Council being brizzed.

If he leaves, Cooley will have a easier time keeping all 3 of Kalif/Watson/Dickens happy. Atleast 1 will be dissapointed in their role next year if Bullock is getting 25-32 mins. Thats how transfers happen.
If Kalif can really improve, Rod leaving definitely has some benefits and might not hurt us too much.

I could agree with that assessment 94. Bullock coming back might also eat into the wing spots also. With the two freshmen bigs Cooley may be tempted to go big and let Rodney play the 3 some.

Rodney leaving/staying doesn't change our needs...we need protection at the rim and players able to attack. Rodney does neither. Losing Rodney and Fazekas does impact overall depth but find a quality 2G and we're still overcrowded at the 3.
The only potential negative is someone telling him he needs to do something that doesn't help our team. IF he's able to improve his ball handling as a result of this, we're all good. If he needs to prove he can hit 25 footers, we're the opposite.

His age may be his deciding factor to play abroad. tick tock. athletic careers have a finite lifespan. doe, rae, me.
Either way stay or go, resolve to finish your education at some point for your own benefit once your playing days are done.

Cooley is on record that you'll be recognized with your graduating class. The inference that must have surprised the coaching staff as he wasn't recognized is an incorrect one

Rodney can graduate this year, presuming he has the grades and finishes the semester....
