How great is this?!
I'm very happy for PC hoops, and very hopeful that Kris will enhance his draft value by virtue of his determination to refine his game over the coming year

And again, the silence from some of our more notable posters is deafening...as if they had known the outcome and done their celebrating already.

PCBALLBOY will be giving daily summer workout recaps. PC will also provide him with a car so he can scout the young men of New England.

Despite his moving up in the mock draft lists, everything leaned towards the insurance option allowing his return for one more year. He is a student, education is very important to Kris and his family and this has been on the table for some time. For us, as Friars, it is fortunate and will sure make next season intriguing if not exciting.
Risky?
I guess except he will have a large policy (hearing 10-15 mil range) covering him for injury.
Yes, his risk extends beyond injury as some of the articles have pointed out - we stink; he stinks - his stock drops, etc. and now the media will focus on instances where others have returned then slipped down in the draft.

Sorry '82 I have been on the go all day. Yes this is wonderful news for all Friar fans and for our Coach and our Program. As one who was confident this would be the decision a long time ago and posted same, yes my celebrating concluded awhile back. It was interrupted during the march of our Icemen to the National Championship which was a dream come true for this Friar. Except for one poster here, I am sorry for the nervous stomach's many posters had here as Kris climbed the ladder week by week in the mock drafts. It sure kept the suspense going.
I said the other day that there were only two remote triggers that could have turned this decision. I did not state what I believed those triggers to be but they centered around a possible screw-up of the insurance policy or Danny Ainge's intentions. Kris is totally protected financially and that's a great thing by the ncaa and PC. If he improves again next year, his sizzle game and draft ranking will send his sneaker and other endorsements rocketing through the roof and that's what we all hope is the case. Oh yeah...and he will have his degree which is so important to his Family...JUST like they said it was at the BET.
Good day to be a Friar

Does he and his family foot the bill for such an insurance policy?

If he makes it to the nba there is a formula requiring re-payment is my understanding.

I look at the injury concern both ways. If he left early and signed for 1-2 $Mil, he could just as easily get hurt in the NBA and he would have his million + and no degree. If he stays and gets hurt, he will have his degree and whatever the insurance policy pays. I think it is great that Kris and family want him to get a degree now that he is close.

Cause for celebration in Friartown, for sure. A unique young man, with a great family. A true Friar. Cannot wait for the season to start.

This decision is a brave one imo, but I think it speaks well of Cooley and the program he is building here that a player like Kris wants to stay given he was basically a first round lock according to most analysts. Next year should be another fun ride.

He's on a track to evolve into a local/regional folk hero: Setting a good example for kids by delaying gratification, getting his degree, etc. Ledo could've achieved at least some of such status by playing for at least one year.
