Been told that a Friar is winning an award tomorrow from someone who is down in NYC working the BE tournament...so it's either scholar athletc or POY...just what I heard. Hope the person is right but only if it's POY.

Marquette looking good. Carlino is unconscious. I thought they were much better than their record showed this year. We need to figure out how to beat them in their house next season.
Seton Hall has just imploded this season.

Seton Hall locked up the "underachiever of the year" award.
No team in the BE did less with as much talent.

Wonder how the crowd is tonight. Looks decent on TV, at least the lower bowl looks pretty full. If I remember from last year the attendance will show up in the box of game 2.

Today's 2:30 game has been touted as the best of the early games so it will be interesting to see the turnout despite the time of the game...that will be interesting to see as it will reflect SJU's drawing power in NYC - and our Friars have always been well received by NY.
Still the crowd last night was great to see as this "new" BE league continues to develop - sure glad they retained the name.

Creighton tops DePaul 78-63 in 1st round of Big East tourney
Really like Greg McDermott - a positive voice as a coach.
Think this was an entirely different game than the Marquette whomp over hapless Hall - DePaul has made progress from a hapless and directionless program yet also think Oliver may be on the proverbial hot seat and it sounds like he knows this as well...

Watching the ACC tourney I just realized how stacked this is for the 4 North Carolina programs. The tourney is in their backyard each and every year. Huge advantage for them over everyone else. Then again they will be playing in NY soon for at least some years so that will make it a bit more fair. But as is its setup for Duke and UNC every year. I just realized last night that they changed their schedule to go head to head against Big East on Friday and Saturday. nights.

Who played in night one last year? Seton Hall vs Butler and Georgetown vs DePaul. I was looking at the previous years (old Big East) and they were 20,000+ all games, but there were many more schools and much bigger schools at the time. I think the numbers are decent but let's see how the rest of the tourney goes. I was hoping we'd at least be on par with last year instead we've had a slight drop off thus far. I thought I read that the ACC had 9,000 for their opening round games or something.

Tough to matchup with that but we'll see. I noticed most of the top teams advanced in the ACC tourney so its all good games here on out for them.

Good for them!!!
I think this is great - interesting and perhaps quite telling as well. OK sure they have the firepower and the cachet in the media as the "darlings" of power but the bottom half stink and they are in Greensboro even as they yearn for the lights of Broadway...(and I know they are coming)
Power Money Football whatever - they do not have NYC, Philly, DC, Chicago or even New England...oh yeah, they also have CUSE and next up is Carolina 'academic' Blue.

The Big East needs to recruit, recruit, recruit and then play solid basketball.

I've seen a pattern of rebounding from disappointments this year. I have a good feeling about Thursday. From your typing fingers to God's hand! PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!! He heard us, thump!
