didn't both those guys play in the nba?...not sure about their early years but both could have played and stood out in any league/team in the country as a jr and sr.....josh made great strides but he ain't going to the ACC and making an impact....
the next time josh fortune finishes a fast break will be his first....and i don't want to turn this into a bashing of josh...i wish we had him...until some of these studs actually spend time on the floor, we need guys like him at PC to stay all 4 years...

must be grating to constantly feel like you're "Plan B" -----------------------------------------------------------"
I'm sure people are dying to get Mom to talk. When it happens she will promted to say negative things about our vaunted HC (do you think EC was stifling Josh's career?).
She will probably offer that Ed didn't intend to feature Josh as first option now that he's an upperclassman. That he has NBA potential (again this is Mom) and he wants to be the scorer Cotton was but fears he won't be given the chance.

..this is based on what ctsteve?....people were praising the entire family when that video was being run...
mom may not have appreciated the mason recruitment following the 9th man talk about her son....would be a fair point imo...

Josh was a 3 star recruit and most thought of him as a guy off the bench playing limited minutes. Do to higher rates players transferring, getting hurt, and leaving school for unknown reasons Josh was thrown into the fire and started for 2 years. Most fans continually bashed the kid when maybe he was in over his head. Then he starts hitting some 3's and played pretty well this year but people still wanted his head because of bad passes and turnovers. Sure he would have started next year but Henton and Harris are gunners and both would be taking the most shots next year. Harris acts like a spoiled brat because his brother is a NBA player and takes terrible shots. Lets not let Cooley off the hook why has he had so many problems with players leaving? His decision is based on things that happened at PC not that he wanted to play closer to home. Josh is a smart kid and has Cal and Purdue looking at him 2 top academic schools and some other good schools. Don't discount his relationship with Bulluck his HS teammate may have soured over the incident with him and Austin.

Doesn't seem like that was too swift of a decision....the kid would have gotten so many more open looks this year with Dunn leading re offense instead of Cotton. Sorry but this makes absolutely zero sense.

Scoot,
Give me an FN break. The Bullock and Austin argument can no longer be made. See the March incident at Oregon...these guys did wrong. Fortune played 35 mpg for an NCAA team last year. California and Purdue didn't even qualify. Next year, because they both actually have more than 3 scholarship guards on their roster, Josh will see less time with them than he would have with us.

Like who ? I think they meant Austin (not Kiwi).
In spite of "things that happened" they won a BE title in MSG and Fortune was a big part of that. There's no reason why he couldn't have improved this season and been a double figure scorer. This isn't Lomomba leaving Clev St., this was a dumb move.

Assuming its a minutes decision, Those minutes would have taken a hit had mason come to pc....a big one.....I think it's more than that and who the hell are we to tell a 20 year old kid where he should play college basketball....maybe he hates everyone on the team....maybe he's sick of Cooley telling him he's not in the top 8 and he shouldn't be playing...Now if the reason is b/c he thinks he's going to get major minutes at a top 20 program, I agree it is a mistake....
As for screwing pc with the timing, it makes no difference...we've got 3 schollies to recruit guards and are taking a big fat donut.....

Scootj-over 500 kids transferred this year-it's not a Coach Cooley problem.

Disagree in his minutes taking a big hit if Mason came. Once again, I scream "who is a shooting guard on this roster?" even if Mason was on it....maybe Fortune goes to 25 mpg, but he gets more looks in those minutes because of Dunn being in Cotton's spot than he did last year.
Tis has absolutely nothing to do with who Cooley was recruiting this spring and everything to do with somebody telling the kid that the big timers wanted him. He's mad because Cooley was too tough but he thinks it's gonna be roses playing for Gene Keady II?

Can't imagine he was selling mason 20 mpg as a 5th yr...... Dunn 30 mpg Fortune 25-30 mpg Mason 20-25 mpg And from the read I have, Fortune was thinking about transferring long before Mason came into the picture...kid thought he was big time: that simple.

He thinks he can be a combo guard at the next level and is tired of "just coming off of screens"
