* Team has played like they miss striker Davis Smith. Not just for grads production but his 6'7 presence demanded attention from opp freeing up other teammates. * Cole Dewhurst a big mins CBack in 2021, played his first Mins v. Nova. * Luis Garcia has no goals in 7g. A big concern for their projected big GS. * Three did not play today, opened the sea. as starters:Vang,Rome,Benjamin. * Several Fr have seen no minutes. Brian Lopez who scored his first goal today has shown good play early and has to get big min's even if he doesn't start. It looks like the staff has patiently tried to work Fr Magnusson into lineup. * Have scored 9goals in 7g. A 1.33 av. mostly due to the 4g Siena game. *The Big East is down with Gtn., Prov., SJ off to rough starts and the league not having it's usual strong RPI against NL teams early. * IMO because of the mediocre NC start it will take a minimum of 17 pts in the BE, something like a 5W, 3L, 2D record and a win BE tourny to make the NCAA. League got 5 NCAA teams in '21 and may get as few as 2/3 this season.

* They were fortunate to get a pt. tonight.
* SH had two clean breakouts past the PC D after bad turnovers - with 4mins to go in first period -scoring on one.
* SH scored on another break early in the second period on their final G. Things did not look good.
* SH a heavily European, finesse team with patience. Funny intro announcing the NJ guys in PC lineup and I don't think SH had any Jersey guys on the squad.
* Delbarton (NJ) grad McSorley didn't play. Several players who began season as starters haven't played in last few g's including transfer N.Benjamin who played a lot of mins. * Luis Garcia picked good time for his first goal as tonight's equalizer.

Out in Chicago for a 3pt afternoon with 1-0 W (on a penalty kick). This was a radically different lineup. It must be inj's, but I don't know what. I do have some suspicions in a few cases. They aren't going to talk about down players but after seeing some things at home, you have to speculate. friars.com/sports/mens-soccer/stats/2022/depaul-university/boxscore/10812#individual-stats Two guys saw their first action of the year. Two F's -from NJ- who have scored g's did not play. Wilson the big min's MF from Ontario DNP. Long way(5p) to 15+ points. Two games in four days to end week.

Not the year that was expected. They are going to have to do some good things over the last stretch of games to try to be in the NCAA talk.

This was maybe the first '22 home game I remember getting a break of any kind.Got a penalty kick score, 2-1W 3pts * Second straight game with new keeper. * Both Spanish Sr.s not in game. * Butler had more ball possession. * Butler goal with less than 3mins in 1-half. It's a problem. * No Diarbian not only 'no win' but probably no points. He was difference maker with 2a's.

In the SJ draw, Spanish guys Candela, Garcia and Lopez, Magnuson, Tulgar DNP. In addition regular GK Burns has not started the last 3 games.
* Recently committed: '23's Mateo Buyu the GK for preppy power MiltonAcad from Dorchester,Ma. Alexi Karalis a Back from Belmont, Ma and the Rev's Acad. * I believe the BET will include 6 teams in this non-COVID year? Moved to Boyd, MD (3yr deal)?

Friars coming off a Sat. (scoreless) draw at Xavier. They are currently out of the BET. Two Espanol Srs. played after missing previous two games. Prov final reg season game, is Wed v. Creighton.
* The BET : with 11 pts on a 2-2-5 conference rec. the only way to gain the #6 and final position is to get a W Wed night (at home),. That would give team 14 pts and possibly eliminate CU depending on what uconn does v.Georgetown in storrs.
It could happen but is probably unlikely. Prov need 3 points to beat out CU by 1pt. That would get them to Maryland and their only chance at NCAA qualification. * Friars have scored 12 g's in 9 BE matches. Only managing draws against the BE three/four lowest teams in standings has been very costly.

A season of high expectations has turned into great disappointment, same can be said for the women soccer team who also missed BET. In fact the fall sports (excluding Xctry maybe) have not been very good for the opening of the new AD's first year. Hope the winter teams bring better results.
