If underclassmen are being groomed as future starters, then Ryan has a problem in that Jackson is also a Soph and is substantially ahead of the curve on him. Not all players can be "groomed as starters". Zeek can spell Jackson or find another way to help. And who knows if Jackson stays once he gets the magic carpet ride 5th year eligibility opportunity? I like seniors.

Last person I want to come in for Jackson is Zeke. Not seeing the value he brings to the table.

Holt and Young are completely different players offensively, as are Lindsey and Diallo. When Jackson's in the game, he'll be given opportunities to slash or post up smaller players; meanwhile, Fazekas is going to find his offense around the perimeter, drive and dish style or off screens. Early last season and a couple of times this year, Ryan's flashed the ability to put the ball on the floor and shoot from mid-range -- I'd love to see him develop this part of his game. Defensively, he has the size to guard some of the same players Jackson does. Given a year to get bigger, stronger? Who knows. But I could certainly see him playing meaningful minutes for PC as a red-shirt junior, and certainly as a senior.

If he's not hitting threes I don't see any value add. Jackson on the other hand has wowed me lately on both ends. Watching him play defense against DePaul was a thing of beauty. Good problem to have with all this depth. Young and Jackson have come a long way since early season. I haven't given up in Zeke as a role player next yr but he might decide to transfer and I'll wish him luck.

It is not a question if running the kid out of town. It is an answer of player realizing he is above his head and better suited to a situation where he will actually get to play. I fully expect to see him at a mid-major midwestern school next season

Nothing against Zeke but he is a victim of exactly what we want the staff to do, recruit over kids!! Cooley brought in Jackson and Jackson has taken Zeke minutes. I will cringe if they have to spell Jackson with Zeke in the future. Huge drop off in talent and athleticism. Have to continue recruit better players than what is currently on the roster.
....gotta love friartown...

I hope he stays because I don't think he would be one dimensional especially if he redshirts. Earlier in the year he showed the ability to do one or two dribbles and shoot. We have seen Lindsey improve his overall game with time. But I will be surprised if he stays. Going from starter to not getting any minutes must be really discouraging for a kid. He was an early commit to EC so maybe he still likes his chances but I would not be surprised to see him at a school like Valpo next year.

Big difference between Lindsey and Zeke is that Lindsey found other ways to impact a game when he wasn't shooting well. Jalen is a better athlete and defender. Other than shooting Zeke does nothing else really well to warrant playing time. Especailly over Jackson and Diallo. The staff has also been on record of saying that they wanted to add another guard to this incoming class. Getting another guard who can play pushes Lindsey, Jackson and Diallo to play more time at the 3.

As a fan, I can support whatever Ryan determines to be best for him.
Zeke aside, White didn't get as much run today, and didn't appear to have the best body language while sitting on the bench late in the game. I happen to like what I see from him, and believe that he's going to develop into a really nice player for us. Having said that, he hopefully appreciates how important Kyron is to us - and the fact that Diallo is really picking it up of late as a 2-guard.
Yesterday was just one game. We're going to need White to step up and perform, in order to advance beyond two more games this year. Appreciate your teammates and celebrate their performances, young man. You too will have your moments

White is the guy I will be watching when the season comes to an end...he's played better than I anticipated but....well....will somebody whisper in his ear that he can be a star elsewhere?
Or, does he read the tea leaves and see a 4-star about to ride into Friartown?
Orrrrrr.....does he believe in himself, the staff, and the school enough to remain a Friar and work to improve?

Have we heard anything on bullock or is it just assumed he's back? Could have an impact on Ryan.
It wasn't long ago that teddy Bancroft needed to get some run so id still prefer to keep Ryan on the roster.

My understanding is that Bullock will be back - but that is largely hearsay rather than some solid source. Think right now the focus is on the "right now' as we move forward, hopefully to an improbable invitation to the Dance - something that nobody expected a few weeks ago yet all are presently delighted to pursue.
Put me down as fully in support of have Zeke remain as a Friar, redshirt or not, he is a SOPHOMORE who was also sick last season. The impatient evaluations fans make are frustrating but understandable in this age of the NOW and the unsteady landscape of transferring, etc.
Look at Cartwright and Lindsey now emergent as solid and consistent contributors. Consider the track record of player development by this staff - something evident across this team be it Jackson, Holt, Bullock, Young, etc.
Why not Zeke?
This notion that he cannot play at this level is the stuff of nonsense IMO. If he goes elsewhere then I wish him nothing but the very best; if he stays, again, redshirt or not, I do see him as a solid piece of our continued success.

Why not Zeke?
Umm. He would need to improve his quicks mightly and his athleticism to a lesser degree. How probable is that?

College hoops is an 8 man game unless you're a pressing team and shooting the ball has been an issue for us in the past. I'd be surprised if he wasn't getting 20+ mpg as a 4th yr jr and 5th yr sr.
I'm guessing this is a done deal by some posts in the thread.
