IF they go, they go. In the long run they will regret it but short turn it will pay off some debt until they lose a fortune trying to play big boy football.

I think it's 30mil but that is cut in half around 2026. They also agreed to a 2-year notice.
So, I'd expect they would want to pay about U-15mil and maybe another 'fee' to not live up to the notice agreement (which is likely existing till Sept'26?).
They will prob' try to not live up to anything they agreed to. They likely want to be playing in Nov.2025
I'm not looking back at what I said online but I think there were only a few who were not for this return (me included). As it stands now it was a good thing given the NCAA credits. Nobody expected two nats.
But now what's the cost is going to be? It could threaten the BE on a few levels.

the issue is the impact on this latest tv contract. the BE was at its post split peak from a leverage standpoint with uconn's 2 NCs, Marq and Creighton as top 15 programs, St John's hiring of pitino and Nova still relevant enough. If Uconn bolts, how much does the contract change?

I agree with you and can’t imagine any network agreeing to a long term contract without specified escape provisions and financial concessions in the event of Conference reconfiguration of any type. Like it or not there is little doubt UCONN commands the biggest nationwide TV audience over the other BE schools. What I find interesting is the continual financial incompetence of the UCONN AD and administration whose irresponsible decisions have created a huge problem that is one fiscally responsible Governor and Legislature away from cleaning house. |

FOX knew they were leaving,just a matter of when. If they wanted to use it as contract leverage they could have. But they are still getting getting a good league in top markets, Ucon or no.
Will the league feel they need more game-inventory. Enough to go back to eleven.

I've talked to several CT basketballs fans. They've had it with the football loving administration. Not many like football period.
The BE bailed them out of mediocrity but, if they make this move, they'll be headed back there. Betcha Danny wishes he took the Lakers job.

it's about eyeballs and uconn is on it's way to must watch when it comes to college hoops on the national landscape. do we know that the contract remains in tact regardless of uconn's conference affiliation?
