Coach let Carter play rest himself ball in first half, then play Carter full play in second half. Not the first time this season.

Seriously, Fielder probably may have beat out Castro for minutes.
Just glad that is over with and we walk away with a W. Not pretty but a W.
Roll the dice with the Huskies on Saturday.. Not a good vibe for that one.
....gotta love friartown...

Postgame Show with John and Joe:
- Barron gave a lift of the bench in the 2nd half - Good turnout by the Friar fans - First Half was a story of two droughts by each team - Friars had one of the best offensive streak (12-2) after the Hoyas first score in the 2nd half - Not pretty but it was a win. - We shot 61% in the second, which made the difference. - We had 10 turnovers in the second half, which is way too much vs. Gtown - Carter was a monster. 24pts, 12 rebounds, and tremendous defensive pressure on Epps (which really picked up after Epps taunted Carter in the 1st half) - Gtown was 5-18 from the field down the stretch... good defense by PC - Epps seemed to catch the "Carter Flu" in the second half

Twelve rbs for Carter. Entire Gtn team got 25. Barron third double fig scorer with 11. This was a survival game. Win and you can dream big at least, about the UCn match. Ed is prob telling media 'that's alright, next season we will compete at a level above this..."

Epps 15-46 against Providence and Carter 19-31 against Georgetown.

Hopefully Kim will have an update on Carter's finger later in the night. He had a monster 2nd half but hopefully the finger( actually replay may have been his right thumb) is just a minor issue.

Carter nailed a 30 footer with a bad thumb, I'll take it.

Moving forward we need to play the starters the whole game (with Barron for Floyd) and only use the bench to give guys rest around the media timeouts. Garwey looked a little better this game, but I’m still more comfortable with Pierre

He must have let 3 balls through his hands in the 5 minutes or so he played, including a perfect alley opp from Carter. If Bonke can catch a clean pass, he has the leg up.

Barron continues to impress me.
Gaines didn’t shoot well tonight, but he did everything else to help us win.
Carter had 24 and 12, but he was also largely responsible for holding Epps to 6-19
We are so thin…thinking back it is pretty incredible that Kim has this team at 10-9 w/ 1 to play. Think about what we have or don’t have. No PF on the roster. Floyd and Barron at the 3, zero bench , and a below league average situation at PG.
****side note—— no one had an easier last 3 week schedule than St. John’s.

It’s amazing how banged up the entire team is:
Oduro has been wearing a heating pack virtually year Gaines is playing with a broken nose and who knows how many other facial injuries Carter now has an injured thumb to go with a bad hip and again who knows what else Floyd has a bad back per his uncle and was clearly laboring Barron didn’t start because of some leg injury Pierre just got over the flu and has had other leg / ankle injuries And last but not least, Hopkins
I think only Slim and Garwey are not injured at the moment.
Put in this context, it’s impressive the team is so close to being in the big dance. They’ve definitely had frustrating moments, but they fight like hell and are always putting forth a great effort. UConn is obviously a better team, but man would it be great if this team had it all come together on Saturday night.
