No. Depending on the seed, you would have to beat at least a 3, 4 , 5 or 6. If we are a 7-10 seed, we would play a 1 or a 2 in second round. That’s not unrealistic, one top 25 team will be a 7 seed for perspective. I see. You are correct. But still, theoretically the #3 seed should be a Top 12 team. Perhaps I've been bludgeoned and beaten down into submission over the past two decades, but that seems like a tall task.

Well you can't blame Walk bec he hasn't taken to caning you in a very long time.
But shouldn't we finally be demanding "tall orders" in this like the 9th year? I love when some of the specimens here relish that Big Ed Sets The Bar High and goes after elite players in recruiting. Well IMO we should set the bar higher than one and done now in a friggin 68 team field. Look...our coach has all the amenities he requested including Budget, now it's time to give us a run in the tourney. The fans have supported the team beyond anyone's expectations by attending games and donating scardole.
I urge everyone within the sound of my voice to Take The Pledge immediately if not sooner. We have a very good experienced team and the future is now.
Thumper endorses mediocrity....I Expect Excellence

Take The Pledge

No excuses for not making a run. Can't see a better opportunity to make a run in the near future.

It's now (disagree with, or never).
For all of the reasons stated, this should be our year. That said, we're off to a bumpy start right out of the gate. Hoping that our posts over the coming months lack the following words/phases:
- lingering injury - lack of chemistry - need to shake off the rust - trying to find the right combination - learning the system

I too would like an extension until the 2nd weekend. But I remind myself of the times in past years when we were twiddling our thumbs during March play. So I guess you could put me in the camp of "hopeful but not to the point where I kick the Friars out of the big bed if their Dancin' is cut short". PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!! Mediocrity at its finest. Twiddling our thumbs one week later than in the past. ....gotta love friartown... If you think what we did in making the tournament 5 straight years was mediocre, you have NO idea what that word means. From the 1974-75 season through the 2018-19 season (which I believe is 35 seasons, ooops error ... make that 44 seasons), we got past the first round of the NCAA a grand total of only 3 times (one of those is Ed's 15-16 season). Our record is 40 and 4 for NOT making it out of the first round. We made it to the NCAA's during that span a grand total of 13 times (5 of those Ed's). Dave Gavitt's last 4 seasons saw 1 donut, one NIT and 2 NCAA first-round ventures. Jimmy Walker (the best to ever lace them up for the Friars) only made it past of the first round 1 out of 3 years. So pardon my frankness, but I'm pleased with what Ed has accomplished. He's done what no other PC coach has ever done. And you, my lovable curmudgeon, have no f**kin" idea what mediocrity truly means. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

What Ed has done to date has been something we have not seen at PC. I get that Thump, doesn't mean I'm satisfied continuing the same trend. Time for Ed to catch lightening in a bottle and give us Friar fans a ride thru the tourney. I'm all in on The Pledge!!!!
....gotta love friartown...

Cooley has made us relevant which seemed impossible when Keno was leading the charge (yet several still thought keno was the guy). But once again, he picked the wrong year to put his name out there. Raises the bar a bit imo,
...and you can't compare the postseason of the 70s to the tournament today. NCAA appearances would be cut by more than half under the 32 team field.

The NCAA tournament is an absolute crap shoot and your pledge is crap so it all kind of works. We will get over the hump with this and it won't have anything to do with some ridiculous pledge. If we make a run or don't it will completely be because of matchups. The real pledge should be to get ourselves a great seed to give us a chance. You are not going anywhere with an 8 seed or higher most of the time.
