Sorry you don't agree with me.
But I'm not on a high horse. Don't go after Ed when talking about Pitino. Please stay on subject.
Paying for prostitutes for recruits, paying for recruits and bending the wife of his equipment managers wife over a table in an Italian restaurant qualify him as a scumbag.
PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Rick is a great basketball coach, but he is a sleazy charlatan and the worst kind of hypocrite. He wrote a book called "Success is a Choice" and for those that haven't read it, the book primarily consists of several fairly common business ideas. One of those is that you can't delegate responsibility and while everyone must be responsible for his or her actions, the top leaders ultimately need to have the buck stop with them.
Rick made an obscene amount of money (I think $7 million per year) at the end of his run at UL and claimed it was justified because of all of the great things he was doing for the program like winning a national title and bringing in top level recruits. But when the prostitution scandal came out, he conveniently had no idea it was going on and threw his former player and assistant coach Andre Magee straight under an enormous bus. This is such a disgusting move because he wants to have all of the glory when things are going well, but then completely absolve himself of all wronWowoing when the sh&t hits the fan and blame it on his underlings. If he thought he could command that money and hoist himself up on a pedestal as the man in charge of the program, then he has to accept ALL of the responsibility that comes with it, both good and bad. If he wants to be able to claim deniability, then he should talk more about how he empowers his staff, gives them control over certain aspects of the program and more equitably spread the money between his coaches.
I am glad this was all just a hypothetical, I don't want this man anywhere near our program.

Interesting comments here.
Short of taking a poll ( which we don’t need) let me ask a straight question:
IF Cooley had bolted for Michigan, would PC have offered/hired Rick Pitino?
Simple yes or no regardless of your feelings about Slick Rick - would PC have taken a flier and offered Pitino?

No. But I still think there is an NCAA issue with him. I find it highly unlikely that no program has hired him at any level if he is free and clear of the NCAA. Bruce Pearl quickly found a major job once his suspension was lifted. Sean Miller and Will Wade, to name a few, are still at their schools. Seems strange that not one desperate school has taken RP.

Yes.
Driscoll would have worked the phones for a few days to see what the prospects were. While Pitino would have lobbied people with access to Fr.Shanley. He would have been hard to accept but also hard to not take. That said Pitino went all out for Siena. He had a priest from Lexington call a columnist from Albany to explain what a generous person he was. It worked, a nice column was put together around the flaws. However RP couldn't land that job or even get a formal interview (why was that).

No way. That ship sailed a long time ago however I wouldn't mind his son as a candidate.
