Wasn't a large buyout reported at the signing of the lifetime deal? That was Fake News...the propaganda machine works 24/7 on Bradley Hill BTW I received that email solicitation for ticket sales this afternoon disguised as an announcement that Cooley would be returning. Too late to increase prices for the coming year but assuming a great season they will rise significantly. Usually works out well when you win big.

I will say one thing to the Miserable folks afflicted with CDS that has nothing to do with the latest drama on Bradley Hill.
While Big Ed did not have a very good year, he sure had a very good Spring when he finally spit the bit of stubbornness and fortified our roster for next year and beyond with transfers....as Kmac said: "Finally !"

Howard to Michigan is, as expected, now going ahead.

I wonder if Blaney will be a candidate? Holy Cross may just go in-house at this point, but I think it would be a good place for Blaney to start his head coaching career if he wants.

Agree 7777...Blaney deserves a hard look by the Cross. His dad was one of their best head coaches in the modern era.

hoopdirt.com/holy-cross-search-update/Looks as though Blaney may not be in play here, then. Interesting to see the two assistants allegedly in the running have no ties to New England (in fact, neither have even been in the northeast or even the Mid-Atlantic at all).

Brett Nelson, a 39 year-old former Florida player under Billy D and, for the last 5 years, the assistant head coach at Marquette has been hired as Holy Cross head coach. Wonder if Brian even threw his hat into the ring. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Probably not, Dex.
Having said that, I (for one) would go beyond the career records, number of wins and championships accumulated by coaches, which should be higher when a conference's "stable" includes coaches who are still in the business at ages 69 (Roy Williams), 72 (Coach K) and 74 (Boeheim).
Many would state that the above are still around because they have driven the results consistently through the years. Fair enough.
As for me, I would stop and consider the means by which some coaches have survived and advanced in the cut-throat world of college hoops. "Best" in my mind should also be a reflection of:
- A clean program that operates within the rules - A program that develops every aspect of the player, on and off the court - An ability to drive results without the benefit of huge budgets, lax institutional standards, media bias - A career trajectory that is one the rise
I may win fewer bets favoring such coaches, but such standards work for me.

Get Well Coach
Hurley recuperating
UConn basketball coach Dan Hurley had surgery on Friday to relieve pain in his neck and upper back. School officials say doctors successfully performed the surgery at the Center for Comprehensive Spine Care in New York. Hurley is expected to be released from the hospital within the next few days, then recuperate at home. UConn officials say Hurley is not expected to miss the Sept. 28 start of the Huskies' practices. Hurley, the former URI coach, is entering his second season at UConn.

Pain in the neck from stomping his feet and making that stupid look on his face at every call by the striped shirts. ....gotta love friartown...
