1. Biggest home win in years. 2.Friars prove that they can beat anyone.Xavier and Nova wins are huge. 3.Should show us all to never give up on Cooley and the Friars. 4.I was fortunate enough to be in the building for this big victory.Crowd was electric. 5, Team played great defense.Brunson had seven turnovers. That never happens.Friars 3 D shut Wildcats long range shooting down.Forced Nova to take tough twos.It worked. 6. Cartwright only played 24 minutes, mainly due to foul trouble.Cooley and Company masterfully went offense and defense with him (and later with Alpha also) .Great coaching job. 7.Jalen Lindsey deserves a special mention. He played 40 minutes. He shot the rock. And he is truly the team’s on court leader. It is not as obvious on TV.But, in the stadium it can be seen.He is constantly talking to guys, motivating ,telling them what to do,etc.I truly believe many understate how important he is to this club. 8.Could not be happier. 9.This team should make the Big Dance with two more regular season wins.At 10-8 the Friars should be top 4 or 5 in the League. As we sit here today ,Friars are tied for third. 10.The BE is an amazing League.Cannot take anyone for granted. 11.Onto Butler!!!
GO FRIARS!!!!

As to point 3, just being able to convince this team that they could beat Villanova may have been Ed's best piece of coaching since he's been here

Shout out to Rodney. Great game. Some huge baskets in the second half. Most emotion we have seen in a while.

Hey pc71?
Have a great time this weekend out at Hinkle Fieldhouse, aka, "the shrine" - bring home another improbable W...
Just remember to bless yourself as you enter that hallowed ground.

In the wake of last evening's win, I got thinking about the fact that a few "casual fans" of the Friars were most likely converted to the lifelong status of "fanatics" in the midst of the euphoria.
Having come to PC from out of state, I didn't appreciate Friar basketball until the end of my freshman season. While I went to all of the games as a "casual fan", it took our 2nd game against URI during the '78-'79 season for me to get snake bitten. As many will recall, PC offset a recent loss to URI, by beating the Rams in what would be Gavitt's last home game as coach. Making the game all the more exciting, was Rudy William's full court shot/basket at the end of the 1st Half.
It was an electric atmosphere in the "Civic Center" that evening. So much so, that I trotted through the next 3 seasons (perhaps the worst 3 consecutive seasons in PC's Big East era), maintaining the passion that I have for the basketball program today.
Having said this, I'd be interested in hearing other people's stories. Under what circumstances, were you converted from being a "casual" fan, to a nut job that is passionate enough about the program, to spend time on the Boards?

Vinny Ernst, NIT - I was 12...in Brooklyn - went to PC thanks to 3 "rich" cousins preceding me and then yes, like Johnny PC got to witness Jimmy Walker who to me remains the best college basketball player ever.

Jimmy Walker, Mike Riordan, Billy Blair, Dexter Westbrook and who was the other starter on that improbable 1964 team?

Shout out to Rodney. Great game. Some huge baskets in the second half. Most emotion we have seen in a while. Rodney did come up Big when the team really needed it,with KC on the bench with four fouls especially. Was nice to see Rodney and KC end their long three point scoring drought.

GO FRIARS!!!! Super win! I should have listened to #dexthekingofalternativefacts. Sitting with you, Backcourt Joe and thefriarman, dex called for a Friar victory. On the way home, I listened to John & Joe and Hassett said Jalen was the Player of the Game with great defense and big minutes on the heal of a concussion. As an aside, got home at 11:30 then up at 3:30 this morning to head to Fort Myers on business. At Logan, I ran into Dick Vitale and his wife (he was doing the Celtics last night and heading to his Lakewood Ranch home and his breakfast restaurant in Siesta Key). Coincidently, I'm playing golf at Lakewood Ranch Saturday. Anyways, seeing my PC hat, he talked about our great victory over Nova. He has a place in his heart for PC. I reminded Dick at his hosting Midnight Madness in the Rick Barnes era. He had many in the crowd both laughing and crying as he regaled us with story after story. He faced a lot of adversity, losing his eye at an early age. It's great to be a Friar any day but especially today!!! And congrats to the students for their support. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!
