I was at the Garden for the C’s game last night...I had planned to watch some of the Friars’ game on my phone...but the middle school games before warmups and at half time had more offense... Ouch

Too many days off in between games.. ....gotta love friartown... Too many days off for those seniors... So now they go into Bradley Center to face the Golden Eagles a team that has lost 2 straight at home... Which losing streak stops on Saturday...sorry but I don't see the Friars losing streak stopping....maybe I will be wrong or it will be an early afternoon getting ready for Sunday's Pats/Eagles SB. Should used an emoji for my tongue in cheek comment. ....gotta love friartown...

Though walk disagrees and may have resigned (again?), '82 is correct in observing that at that point in the game Friars had their only opportunity to get back into the game. There was either going to be a run or not at that point. SH was gassed on defense and Friars had been pressuring SH from advancing the ball effectively. Coming out of the timeout it was soon evident that it was not going to happen as Seton Hall responded and the Friars didn't.
In walk's defense the game felt lost during the first half with no possibility of winning. YET as '82 notes both Friar fans and SH fans sensed that the momentum was with PC with around 8 minutes remaining. As slight a chance as it might have been to get back into the game, take a lead, Friars had SH back on its heels. It depended on how both teams responded coming out of the time out and SH responded/ bucked up.
Some observations: -from the very first scoring attempt - missed free throw. - Jalen's shot was way off from the beginning. Was it the defender. Noticed in half 2 when the play was in my end of the court that No. 14 was actively playing defense against Lindsey giving little room for the guard to get him the ball for an open shot. While Lindsey was not scoring I noticed him demonstrating leadership on several occasion, explaining to Watson what/where he should have been doing, directing players on the floor as Friars were running sets. -I saw a phantom foul call on Lindsey at the Seton Hall end of court. Cooley visibly upset with a number of calls last night. Seton Hall fan behind me argued every call against SH and applauded every call against Friars. He was looking at the game with clear partiality. - KC's shooting was horrendous from the start as well. When he first came out for a rest the student trainers looked to get him a sports drink rather than a water bottle. I wondered if he was suffering from flu symptoms or dehydrated. or weakened in any way. Just a thought. (Those who see him play at home may chide me that he always reaches for a sports drink rather than water bottle). One of KC's turnovers seemed to be on a ball that got away high off his fingers as he was passing. From my vantage I couldn't see his feet and he argued the call with the ref. Thought he may have had a point. (one call in a mess of game) - Friars and even Seton Hall seemed to have a bit more difficulty at the Seton Hall end of the court with the rim. Rims seemed stiff, tight, balls bouncing high off the rim. The rim even looked unlevel to me from my seat?? - Early in the game Friars showed great defense swatting away and blocking shots. - that 19-0 run by SH was a blur. I knew Friars were getting creamed with Carrington, Desirod shooting, driving, scoring, Powell's two 3's but was stunned to look up, craning my neck, to see the scoreboard and the run and the difference in score.. Cooley tried to keep his composure and just signaled to the players to keep rolling. He refrained from calling a time out. I thought he might, I thought he should, I thought he had to, but he was allowing his team to work out of it. He knows his players, he knows the game. Who am I to question his reasoning. - -- When Watson first came in he guarded Delgado well. In second half Watson was torched inside and Cooley turned to the bench clapping his hands and saying "he doesn't know what he's doing" Subbed for Watson and spoke to Watson calmly, instructively as he came out. I could only surmise that Coach Cooley's comment to the bench was referring to Watson and tried to coach and teach him how he might have defended that play. - SH spreads the floor, creating opportunity to drive the lanes at will, outside shooting helped open the lanes. Several SH players took their turns scorching the Friars defense. - KC tried to avoid fouling several times allowing SH to score. He wound up with 4 personals along the way so I suppose he needed to play some matador defense. - At halftime I asked Joe H what do the Friars need to do in second half... He shrugged and said "Make some shots?". - Diallo kept Friars in game but I was astounded to see the number of misses on what looked like easy shots. To his credit, he often follows his shots, getting the rebound and scoring with another attempt. Also, kept trying to score when others didn't or the SH defense didn't give others the room to score.. - Rodney never seemed to get going on any kind of run. Was it the defense? He seemed composed during the game though. As he came off the court he stopped and was scowling at someone in the VIP seats, but not sure who or why as I didn't turn to see. Perhaps, family, a friend, commenting, gesturing. Perhaps he was annoyed at his performance the team's play, the bad loss and took it out with a "look" to an ally in the seats. - The whole team quietly and purposely left the court for the locker room. Maybe just upset with the loss. - SH just seemed prepared to take away PC's offensive threats last night. - Jackson added energy and stability and some leadership when inserted into the game. He can be counted on for some rebounds. - A word on MAL in 2nd half drive to basket, the whole arena knew his shot was going to be blocked. Credit him for trying to score though. Freshmen become sophomores.
- - - final thoughts on Senior leadership. Jalen Lindsey is clearly a vocal leader to his teammates and in speaking to his younger teammates. KC may have gone to the bench for his sports drink and Jalen had gathered the other 3 players in the paint and called KC to the huddle and to hurry. Emmit Holt provides verbal leadership on the bench, also saw him speaking to one of the bigs on sideline, maybe Watson - a work in progress..

4 possession game...after working to get it to a 4 possession game...is not "in the game"...it's getting your ass kicked.
leadership - is not telling people where to go...it's stepping up when your team needs a play. Mr Henton at MSG. Mr Cotton for an entire season....
An SHU fan cheering for friar fouls...complaining about shu fouls? That must have been tough to take. Hardly ever happens.
The rim even looked unlevel to me from my seat?? We have a winner.
Work in progress with 4 seniors and a rs junior is not good if the month is anything other than November...never mind February.

I thought you resigned?
- Walk there was a palpable feeling that the Friars might take over the gamewith about 8 minutes remaining. They didn't nor did I expect them to. '82 was correct in that it was the only time in the game where the Friars may have come back, closed the lead and perhaps somehow prevail. - leadership was exemplified by Lindsey and Holt. Lindsey was covered by No 14 for much of the game. His shot was affected by the defense. Only so much he could do. - I was at the MSG game when Mr. Henton brought the Garden (MSG) to its feet. His late three two sealed the game. None of that play in evidence last night. - SHU fan didn't annoy me in the least. It was an observation that I found humorous... look the word up as you evidence no humor in your soul or posts. - I was courtside with a direct view of the rim. Likely these old eyes were off, not the rim, but with everyshot seeming to clang and miss, just an "observation" walk. Rim looked like it was not level as in the school yard resulting from everyone hanging on it. SHU had some problems at that end as well. - I wasn't clear - Watson is a work in progress... yes, the team is all screwed up. - thank you for your comments.

I see what you mean....assuming you're suggesting the tainted rim is where we shot in the first half and limited SHU to 52% from the floor in half 2....
Walk there was a palpable feeling that the Friars might take over the gamewith about 8 minutes remaining....now that is HUMOROUS!!!...as we essentially fouled right away and were down 17 in 90 secs.

yep walk, ha, ha. You are correct as always. But you fail to see that at the point of the game, referenced by "'82", before the foul and before going down by 17, that both SHU fans and Friars fans present, felt it was going to go one way or the other. Perhaps, a last chance for the Friars.... but alas. Had it gone the Friars way perhaps you would see the merit in such a statement.
I imagine that you have a great circle of friends enthralled by your wit ....or maybe only a select fortunate few are entertained by it. One ponders.

Thank you for your honesty. As to bball, I'm 71 years old and my days of one and one are over. But in the day ...! On another point, I'm curious of your posting history on this board. You registered on Jan 1 of this year and have 192 posts in 31 days (that is 5.17 posts per day, for you statisticians). Out of nowhere. Yet you do have more than a passing knowledge of Friar basketball. So, your history is one of either one of several scenarios ... 1) you were incarcerated prior to Jan. 1 2) you are a refugee from 247sports 3) you were in a coma, and fortunately, came out of it 4) you are a reincarnated poster (looking for a new identity) 5) you are a troll 6) you are friard Which is it? Maybe I'll set up a poll. BTW, Cartwright wasn't held out long enough in last night's game. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!! Why does it matter who or what I am Thump?? We are all the same in God's eyes right? all people isn't that what the Bible says? Besides I'm just a Friar Fan Thumper, this cat has had more than 9 lives, and he's learned to blend in over time.
