1.This loss puts PC smack dab in the middle of the upper pack of the BE.Nova and Xavier have the two best records. PC,SHU,Creighton,Georgetown are currently the next echelon. The DePaul loss hurt bigtime.
2.Love Ben.A warrior.Obviously hurting.In spite of that,still was PC's star today.
3.Is something wrong with Kris Dunn? This is a serious question. He has been horrible the past couple of games. And it nothing to do with foul troubles.
4Better get the revenge win on 2/10.

A few additions, had to cut last post short..........
5.Nice to see Zeke getting his shooting eye back. His minutes need to increase. 6.Quietly,since no one seems to be talking about him,Kyron has been playing better. He is quick as can be.Has handled much of the Ballhandling. His assist to turnover ratio has been better than Dunn's.And,amazingly, he was the Friar's leading rebounder today. 7.My starting lineup at Marquette would be Dunn,Cartwright,Zeke,Bullock and Bentil.I would play Smith some.Jalen ,Jr. And Edwards also.I would press them.Need to win that game. 8.This year PC has to have one of its worse League home record ,with a good/NCAA caliber team. 9.Been texting one of my good New Bedford buddies. He has been a PC season ticket holder for over 40 years. His thoughts on Dunn---he is overrated, especially on offense. 10. One game at a time.

Just looked at some stats from the game
PC had 29 rebounds to Nova's 46.Unfatomable to me.
Friars shot 33.3 from the field.Nova. 45.2.

Here's my rambling thoughts, this is looking like an NIT team unless we do a 180....it's very simple. Need 4 more wins and 1 of those had better be the closer at St. John's for RPI purposes. Also will want 1 at BET.
Finish .500 or worse in the BE and they are looking at NIT without major noise at BET.
Any breathing room they built with the early surge is gone.
Maybe im overreacting and the team will prove it either way but right now I see a flawed team that depends on 2 studs and if either one is off forget it. We overachieved and got lucky early and now it's catching up. Hope I'm dead wrong and I'll happily eat crow.

Have to agree that while Dunn is a wonderful athlete, against Big East teams with size and athletes of their own who are gearing up to stop him from getting to the hoop, he needs a reliable jump shot and it's just not there right now. I had hoped he'd develop a few "go to" pull up moves/shots but it doesn't seem to have happened. He doesn't seem to be playing with the looseness and joy he used to show. The kid deserves this season to have a happy ending but he's got to pick it up in the next month.
Other than at UMass, who played zero defense, our offense has struggled since Fazekas went down. Now he seems to be rounding back into form and he gets yo-yoed in and out every night. He seems to be back to being the only reliable outside threat we have so he needs to play and play a lot if we're going to start to look like we did early on. The kid isn't perfect but I think he's a better athlete than some think and a lot of good things happen when he's out there.
Bentil was a warrior today. After seeing him limp around and be so ineffective in the first half I thought he should just sit rather than risk further injury. But then he goes out and puts up a bunch of points in the second. Really hurt us that he had no quickness or hops on the defensive end as it was a lay up line for Nova in the second half.
Did anyone else think we should had showed some zone in the second half just to mix it up?

I watched in bits and pieces because I was disgusted but I think when they don't have it going the game plan should be to absolutely change up the looks on both ends. If they stayed with the same game plan all day then it's another head scratcher, reminds of Belichik the "genius" who no longer makes adjustments.

I think Bullock and Dunn are gassed. Our lack of height and size is catching up with us.

Over the summer, coach Cooley said this would be the best shooting team he's had at PC.
Coach doesn't take the shots, but we are 9th in overall FG % in the league. We are 10th in 3 point shooting.
We are tied with Villanova and St. John's at 36.7 rebounds per game, tied for 6th place.
We have rebounded better then our size might predict. Butler is 3rd in rebounds at 37.7 per game, so it's not like we get killed on the boards every game. Nova killed us on the boards, but Bentil was obviously not in prime jumping jack form.
I think more then anything, what's hurting us first and foremost is our very poor shooting. Over the summer Cooley said this team was set up for a run and gun lead by Dunn. But, as shooters, we stink. Part is Zeke's absence and time needed to get it back. We need him badly.

Zeke has looked 100% to me the last couple games. He and Bentil are the least of the problems on this team.

It is time to keep things in perspective.
Rome was not built in a day.Neither was the Villanova hoops club we have known the past decade. It was not until Jay Wright's 4th year on the Main Line that his team even made the NCAAS. If PC makes it this season, it will be three years in a row--- for the first time it has been done so in many moons.

Not a fair comparison But Villanova when Jay came in (after Lappas ) had some talent.Lappas recruited well.He did not win enough in March. Ed Cooley had to clean up the Keno mess.To have the Friars where he has them, where we are upset when they are not highly ranked,is outstanding to me.

If we are looking at Wright's building job at Villanova as a blueprint, we better hope the recruiting picks up back to the levels of the Bentil/Lindsey/Chukwu class. Wright has consistently brought in Top 100 kids every year from the very beginning. Our last Top 100 is Bentil.
Also need to figure out how to avoid losing the Chukwu/Fortune types to transfer. I believe Jay has been able to keep most of his kids (do believe he lost a grad transfer last year).
It's easy to question recruiting rankings, but difficult to question Jay's track record, which is built on recruiting and signing Top 100 kids.
