The Jazz want a longer look at Cotton and signed him to another 10 day. Great news! purpleandblues.com/2015/03/05/report-utah-jazz-re-sign-bryce-cotton/According to a report by Sportando, the Utah Jazz have elected to continue their relationship with diminutive playmaker Bryce Cotton. Cotton, who was called up by the Jazz from the D-League’s Austin Spurs on February 24th, has apparently received a second 10-day contract with the club. The Cotton signing would be the second one of its kind in as many days; the team inked Idaho Stampede forward Jerrelle Benimon to a 10-day contract yesterday. With the retaining of Cotton and the acquisition of Benimon, one can’t help but wonder what the future holds for Jack Cooley, whose contract with the Jazz expired today. Meanwhile, the six-foot-one, 165-pound Cotton saw seven minutes of game action in Utah’s blowout victory over the Denver Nuggets. He finished with three points, connecting on an attempt from long distance, as well as two rebounds, one assist and one steal. With Jazz guard Ian Clark assigned to the Idaho Stampede, Jazz coaches and general manager Dennis Lindsey were afforded the chance to take a harder look at Cotton. The high-scoring guard has been on their radar for awhile now, dating back at least as far as pre-draft workouts this past summer. Now it appears as though Jazz brass will have more time to evaluate his progress.

Not a bad stat line for 7-minutes of action. PS: Ian Clark a rookie from Belmont is no slouch either. He was named the 2013 NBA Summer League Championship Game Most Valuable Player after scoring 33 points.

No surprise to this Friar - it may be the Jazz or it may e someone else but Cotton will eventually find a way into the leagues. He will receive the same amount, (29+k) for this second 10 day deal - not bad - just under 60K for 20 days "work". Interesting piece here where the focus is on the overall Utah Jazz re-tooling effort with more than one deal/player etc. Too funny that Cotton merely gets a brief mention even as he re-signs with the Jazz who want to take a longer look at him with the new 10 day deal. Just one game, but Cotton had a net effect of +4. Point guard Burke was 1-11, 0-3 from deep, with 2 assists in 28 minutes and a net effect of -4. Hope they sign him for the remainder!

How much does it take to bench a guy like Burke and give Cotton a legitimate shot? My God.

He got into last night's game, his third. Less then a minute so the box says 0 minutes, but he got in. Should be close to decision time....
