This is awesome news. Hope he cashed out.
I am psyched as well that the Friar pipeline to the NBA is alive and well. We need players that Coach Cooley leads to the postseason who then go on to the NBA. It will only help recruiting. Top kids want to go to the NBA and Cooley needs to be able to say he sends them there.

That was a great interview. He's always well spoken. What the coaching staff liked: www.sltrib.com/sports/2300004-155/utah-jazz-notes-guard-bryce-cottonUtah Jazz notes: Guard Bryce Cotton signs multi-year deal By AARON FALK | The Salt Lake Tribune Bryce Cotton's second 10-day contract has expired, but the D-League call-up isn't going anywhere. The Utah Jazz announced Monday they had agreed to a multiyear deal with the rookie point guard. "I just signed it this morning," Cotton said at the team's shootaround. "It feels good to know I'll be here the rest of the year, and I just want to continue to work and do whatever the team needs and try to keep getting better." Cotton has appeared in just three games since arriving in Salt Lake City, but the diminutive guard has impressed coaches with his play during those brief stints and practices. "I think he just fits what we want to do," coach Quin Snyder said. " his work ethic. I think he's a communicative point guard."
Cotton was averaging 22.4 points (third most in the D-League) and 4.6 assists a game with the Austin Spurs at the time of his call-up, and his scoring is something the Jazz value.
"One of the things that really stands out about him is his ability to really shoot the ball," Snyder said. "He can make shots."
Cotton, who went undrafted last summer out of Providence, is appreciative of the opportunity.
"It's a wonderful feeling," he said. "I'm just continuing to stay patient with the process and working and I'm glad to see somebody's in your corner."

The timing of this is excellent as we approach Friday evening - what a great piece to put before our team - "Here he is guys - LOOK!"
Amazing story - AMAZING - consider he was the undersized overlooked kid who KENO never ever saw and, (typically yawn), placed a mail order to pick up his recruit. From his Freshman year with his sissy-like passes to the sharp shooting 2G then transformation into the emergent POINT GUARD by need all the way to the BET Championship; let alone his stellar effort just falling short vs. Carolina Blue in the Tourney.
Bryce Cotton's story is ridiculous; a testament to his talent no doubt but more so to his work ethic and focus.
charl is right to color the comments from Jazz fans by saying - "They DON'T know him "- but they will, they will.
Love Quinn Snyder saying - "in practice".

An obvious enthusiastic Friar/Cotton fan jumped into the Jazz thread to say "don't be surprised if Cotton is starting by years end". I do think that's an overstatement. Dante Exum is the starting PG, now and for the future in Utah. But Cotton can replace Trey Burke. Bryce is the better shooter and facilitator. He's the third PG for now, but they may trade Burke before Cotton, and Cotton could be the second unit PG. He did get in for 4 minutes in Monday night's game. No stats, but I heard he looked comfortable out there. Once again, Bryce Cotton proves he belongs. As if any of us ever doubted his will, determination, and work ethic. Their fans expect Utah to contend next year. I'm sure they will grow to love what Cotton will give them every time he steps on the floor.

Utah looks to be out of the playoffs, why not give Cotton some run? The NBA blows but I'm glad Cotton got paid. Hope he gets a chance (which as we know is at least half the battle in the NBA) to actually showcase his talent.

Maybe they are hiding Cotton so they can trade Burke.

IMHO Bryce is better than Trey right now and FWIW I'm not even sure how the Exum kid is even seeing the floor. Minimum of 2 years away. They love his upside/potential.

By process of elimination we know it's not a fan who thought he was a joke his first two years and was a so so passer and ball handler while ascending as junior/senior to be the best guard and 2nd best player in the conference...oh and MVP of the BET followed by a so so ncaa game against the unc cheaters.

To say that Dante Exum is the starting PG now and in the future for Utah is also an overstatement. As of right now he's starting, yes, but he's also only averaging 21 mpg on the year and losing playing time to an undersized & under-performing Burke (and now a D-League call up)as the season progresses. Just because a kid was taken with a 5th pick and a team had high hopes for him doesn't necessarily mean that said player will live up to expectations. Now that being said, Exum is extremely young(doesn't turn 20 until July) and just a rookie but his performance & numbers up until this point have been somewhat of a disappointment in the Jazz Community. He's averaged 5ppg and 2.7apg in 21mpg on just 36% from the field. As of right now Cotton is LITERALLY light years ahead of Exum as a professional PG option. Now Utah can't just bench Exum and give Bryce the ball. That kind of stuff doesn't sit well or give confidence to your fan-base who you were just pumping up a year earlier about this 6'6 phenom PG you just wasted your 5th draft pick on. But by next year I bet every Jazz fan in the Delta Center will all want the same PG on the floor in crunch time, and his name will be Bryce Cotton. No offense against Exum, I'm not rooting against this 19 year old I never met but fact of the matter is Jazz ownership/management is not as nearly as confident in the Exum selection as they were last June. There is a reason they are PG shopping and showing interest in some of this drafts top options.
