Every game we play will be a struggle to win. Right now we have 3 guys who can score and only 1 really athletic guy. Look at our starting line up and the reserves. Cooley has very few options with a line up that only has 10 players' We only have 1 guy who does most things well. Foul trouble and athletic teams will give us a lot of trouble.Sad but true. Go Friars!

walk?
I will give Cotton an A+ for adaptability.
He was never a solid passer - that was one of the knocks on him in the past so for him to step up, play this hybrid-PG role he never wanted nor worked towards is impressive. Then to be able to push the game with his passing is remarkable.

Cotton leads the Big East in assists (hey that means passing to someone who scores) by 1.3 assists. Considering we have a scarcity of people who can score, that statistic is outstanding. There's plenty of others who can have fingers pointed at them but not Cotton. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Since cotton has the ball 99% of the time....just about every hoop we score that isn't from an O rebound will lead to his assist...do you think he's as good a passer as council?
The point was nobody else on this team is even an average passer of the basketball...it ain't a criticism of cotton at all....
Do you guys really watch the games?

I realize distance doesn't make that possible for you and, for those games you get to watch on TV, you are limited to where the camera goes. But that is really no excuse for your ignorance. With or without your retractions or your changing the subject. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Bryce Cotton has the toughest job in the Big East as he now needs to be the scorer and the assists man. He needs to be selfish and selfless. He needs to attack but be cautious. Kadeem needs to get himself going. One big telling part for me was when the defense backed off him as he held the ball with a wide open look from just inside the 3-point line. He loves that shot. He gave it up to Harris who was basically triple-teamed in the paint.
Harris is going to need to keep up his pace and Fortune needs to get more involved.

But Batts and Fortune need to shoot their shots when open. Batts seems to hesitate on shots that he would confidently take in the past when facing up.

Batts just needs to play confident. I do not care if he misses as long as he looks like he is not afraid to take a shot. I know that he worked very hard in the offseason and has been working with a personal coach who has been getting him to go face-up with the basket. He needs to just take the shots. I would love to see Henton and Kadeem work harder off of the pick. They seem to just turn and stand after Cotton works his way. There have been multiple opportunities where - and this is where Cotton needs to be quick - Batts comes off his pick and his standing in his sweet spot for a wide open jumper but never sees the ball. HOWEVER, Batts cannot sulk and be a shell of himself. He knows it is rebounding and defense. He needs to keep up the intensity. It is all inside of him. Needs to go after it and not be afraid. I would rather lose with Kadeem busting his ass and missing shots than see him fumble like Mark Sanchez while trying to pull in a bounce pass from someone. We have the ability to win every game in this league.

Broadcaster,
don't care if he misses? He missed 7 out of 8 shots yesterday and I care. Guy is a 5th year 6'9 senior and if he played like one the last two FN games we are 12-2. End of story!

Realty is that we have ONE guard (Cotton) and one kinda-guard (Fortune) on the whole freaking team! In the Big East! One guard! We can go on about who can pass and who can't all we want but the simple math is undeniable. Think about it, we've added two JUCO transfers, gotten everyone else a year older and yet the absence of Vincent Council has crushed us; it's killed Batts, hurt Henton and made games a nightly MMA match for Cotton. Sure, the loss of Dunn doesn't help but ballhandling is his 4th or 5th best skill set. Heck, we were a ballhandler short even with Council!
A limited few posters screamed from March to July that we needed to bring in another ballhandler and were rebuked by most under the guise that Austin could play guard, Fortune and Dunn were (or would be) good enough ballhandlers and Woodring would provide insurance. Umm, no.....on any of that.
Realty Bites right now.
