Bye, bye Taylor and Shakeil...both age 24, glad off the street but how sad that 24 year olds choose this path.
Would love if the authorities could find and arrest the big fish behind the drug trade. Easier said then done.

Posted Dec 9, 2019 at 11:44 AM Updated Dec 9, 2019 at 7:15 PM PROVIDENCE — Twenty-three people are being charged with delivery of controlled substances following a four-month investigation into drug trafficking in and around Providence’s Kennedy Plaza, the police announced Monday.
The drugs include fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, oxycodone and other pressed pills, Providence Police Chief Hugh T. Clements Jr. said at a news conference Monday morning.
Twelve of the suspects have been arrested and 11 remain at large, he said. All have criminal records.
Clements said he believed some of the suspects would turn themselves in and others would be arrested soon.
Police also seized a 25-caliber handgun in the Valley neighborhood in the investigation, he said.
Undercover officers with the Providence Police Narcotics Bureau conducted the investigation over the last four months and made most of the arrests in the last week, Clements said. One of the officers, Sean Lafferty, is soon to be promoted to sergeant, he said.
Officers focus their narcotics investigations on areas where they’ve observed trends in drug activity, and Kennedy Plaza is one place where open-air drug dealing was not uncommon, Clements said.
Mayor Jorge Elorza, who was also at the news conference, said everyone charged had been identified as a dealer and not simply an addict or a user charged with possession.
“These are drug dealers,” he said. “By getting them off the streets and taking every ounce or trace of fentanyl that we can, we’re making sure more people can stay alive and we can drive down the numbers of sorrowful overdoses.”
There were 314 drug-overdose deaths in Rhode Island last year, and about 230 so far this year, according to the state Department of Health. Toxicology reports are pending for some deaths between July and November that are not reflected in this year’s totals, according to the department.
Many overdoses are due to the presence of fentanyl, an opioid painkiller 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, which dealers may mix into other substances, such as cocaine or heroin, without the user being aware, Clements said.
“These dealers are not FDA-certified,” he said. “Some people who are chronically addicted are ingesting drugs they think are one thing. That’s why these types of operations and these arrests are important.”
Those arrested include Joseph Ferreira, 36; Michael Andre, 57; Paul Travassos, 46; Brian Stetson, 63; Richard Britto, 37; David Rios, 69; Robert Florio, 55; Ronnie Walker, 56; Theodore Thomas, 45; Gerado Rivera, 52; Kory Chase, 44; and David Thibeault, 40.
Still at large are Jeremy Amaral, 45; Chris Almy, 35; Kenny Johnson, 64; Lee Butler, 50; Samuel Church, 61; Steven Patricio, 61; Daniel Peterson, 35; Mickey Banks, 55; Leona Reels, 52; Paul Marcellus, 56; and Tracey Angiollillo, 51.

POLICE DIGEST Man charged with beating woman with bat
PROVIDENCE — Police arrested a man Friday night after he allegedly beat his partner with an aluminum baseball bat.
Officers responded to call around 8:43 p.m. and took Cesar Garcia Rodriguez, 20, into custody.
When officers arrived at the scene in the Manton neighborhood, they saw Rodriguez hitting an apartment door with a baseball bat, according to the police report. The report states that when Rodriguez noticed the police cruiser, he fled to a nearby residence and was pursued on foot by the officers.
Police said Rodriguez ran up to the second floor of the building and the two patrolmen took up positions at the bottom of the stairwell and issued repeated and loud verbal commands to show his hands. The report said that their guns were drawn but never fired and that after several minutes of refusing to follow the orders, Rodriguez surrendered.
Police said that after he was handcuffed, Rodriguez threatened to kill a neighbor as he was being taken into custody. According to the report, officers arrived after the woman was beaten in the face with the bat before escaping.
Five children were entrusted to a “trusted caretaker” for the night and the woman was taken for treatment.
Rodriguez was charged with felony assault and domestic vandalism.

POLICE DIGEST Providence woman indicted in death of infant
A grand jury has handed up an indictment that accuses a 22-year-old Providence woman of involuntary manslaughter in the death of an infant in March 2019, according to the office of Attorney General Peter F. Neronha.
In April, Providence police charged the woman, Ginalys Velasquez Camara, with first-degree murder, saying she had not met her responsibility to either provide care for the child or obtain care.
The woman delivered the newborn on March 23 without medical assistance, according to police. On March 30, police announced that the newborn had been found in an apartment on Ring Street where the mother lived with her brother and an uncle.
Camara’s arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 12 in Superior Court, Providence.
