Thanks to everyone who reached out to me with private PMs, expressing their interest in curating and publishing bits and pieces of historical information on the National Invitation Tournament. It is with mixed emotions that I offer this first installment, fully recognizing that it will "cast shade" on the bucolic string of a similar name here on the "Other Board"...
TODAY IN NIT HISTORY Archives of Friar82
Today is March 22. There are 13 days remaining in this year's National Invitational Tournament.
Today's highlight in NIT history:
In 2011, Providence hired Ed Cooley who would eventually lead the Friars to an NIT appearance in 2019.
On this date:
In 2018, Marquette of the BE and Penn State were idle and preparing for their March 27, NIT - Final Four match-up at MSG. In 1975, CBS covered the NIT semifinals featuring a doubleheader (Providence-St John's and Princeton-Oregon) that went head-to-head with the NCAA regional finals broadcast. In 1961, John Egan led a late game rally to defeat Niagara at MSG by a score of 62-20.
Today's Birthdays:
Former NIT players including Shawn Bradley, Brian Shaw, Don Chaney and Wayne Turner

Poor bastage has lost His mind
Mrs β82 should place hot compresses on the back of his neck. I would also recommend total abstention be initiated with respect to fraternizing with his brothers and One son.

ππππππππππππ Poor bastage has lost His mind Mrs β82 should place hot compresses on the back of his neck. I would also recommend total abstention be initiated with respect to fraternizing with his brothers and One son. LOL! Family '82 loves PC, and considers the success of the BE to be a reflection of our accomplishments and failures. Don't have to go any further with regard to how we collectively feel about this year's accomplishments, other than to state that PC will be back under Ed Cooley. Now - I would like to call into evidence that outrageous turnout (views) for my initial installment of "Today in NIT History" on the OT Board. Evidently, other's are feeling the same. When the clan convenes in 'Gansett next summer, we (including fellow NIT enthusiast, friarman) can discuss your evident disinterest over a cold, adult beverage.

That could be me - on most days in fact!
However, I must admit being in a state of euphoria over the turnout for my first - "Today in NIT History" installment. Simply put, you could knock me over with a feather.

Some people will do anything to nudge their way into the lime light. This includes posting their material on the widely-popular string of another person, in an effort to get noticed.
Case in Point: The above posted content being posted on the "This Day in NIT History" string!

I think we are possibly looking like copyright enfringement here.
You will be hearing from FTH legal counsel Sir Willie Of Philly
So Fr Flanagan was wrong when he opined:

ps If you can find a lucid Mod not in a foxhole waiting for the 24/7 basketball silly season to end, have them move my errant post. Meanwhile enjoy the OT Board which is at least not repetitive ad nausea

Due to circumstances encountered during PC's torrid February run through BE play, upcoming installments of "This Day in NIT History" have been suspended indefinitely. Fans of this critically acclaimed series can contact OT Board - Central for access to previously archived columns.

I admit It gets lonely sometimes Mikey.
Not easily expanded when you get zero promotions from the half-ass publisher of FTH on the Gavitt board for the exciting fare we offer on the OT Board
and sure...it causes '82 and I to drink a little more than we should

We are hard hitting journalists and as such long for the days of the soft hat with the press card in the band, a cigar and a scotch. We are throwbacks...like dinosaurs roaming the land in search of prey or at least a nice meadow of grass.
Not a single Fu8738cking promo by this so called publisher.
Not even a tip of the hat to help drive business
Sure the pay is GREAT but a man needs to be stroked once in awhile to feel wanted
