Creighton jumps out early, we start slow as usual and fall by 12+. 8 point spread seems low. Foster has a big game.

First time, long time. According to your prognostications we already aren't making the tourney next year so maybe we shouldn't watch?

However, I will side with yankee. I feel Creighton is a wall too tall. Nevertheless, viewing and cheering on our Friars will happen anyways.

I agree spread seems low given its a road game for us, and Creighton has been very solid. That said I am hopeful they can pull off a stunner.

Sorry fellas. Not a great first post. I agree it's a longshot. I think my snarkiness came from reading all of the negative next year talk from Yankee, even if his posts are relatively well thought out and not antagonistic. My bad.

have zero expectations here...zero idea what to expect from this team. Is it fools gold like the nonconf schedule? Is there any chance we can start like we have the last two games and get a W ? And at SHU we started out like the globetrotters and lost. SO who in the hell knows. We probably win tonight and lose the home game to DePaul.
One thing in our favor is Creighton's best when they play fast. Not sure if we can keep up with them but we (specifically cartwright) suck when we play slow. AND please score more than 8 points in the first 10 minutes.

We got thick skin around here, right walk? Anyway I agree on the negative nancy stuff about next year. This team is on the cusp of NCAA (unlikely they make it)..... but for a few horrific gaffes -@ DePaul, home vs SJU we would be talking about what region and seed we were in. How can you not expect this EXACT SAME TEAM a year older, while the rest of the league loses a crop of starting seniors to not be more competitive? It's bananaland. Mark this post, this team wins 23 games and sees the top 25 next year at some point. And gets in with a seed in the 7-11 range.

What if we play like we did vs Georgetown @ Georgetown? Could happen tonight...
Much on the line and our Friars know it so...

What if we play like we did vs Georgetown @ Georgetown? Could happen tonight... Much on the line and our Friars know it so... More specifically, we need the Friars that showed up in the 1st half vs Gtown and the 2nd half vs Xavier...and do it all in one game vs Creighton. None of this "A tale of two teams" stuff as we have become ever so familiar with seeing. And do it in front of another rabid sold out crowd in far away Omaha. Like I said, it seems like a wall too high. But to quote our own walk..."who in the hell knows?"

Whitefriar,
Welcome aboard. Glad you read my posts. I praise the team when they do well, and criticize when they don't. I also have zero expectations for this game tonight, so we will see what happens. I don't think Creighton is a particularly favorable matchup for us, with or without Watson, especially on the road, but we will see.
We have played 3 out of the top 4 teams in the league on the road, and have not lost be less than 10. If we win tonight, it will be from a tremendous effort ( and I have said all year that the team plays with great effort). Should they win, that effort should be, and will be praised by me.
As for next year, we need more pieces. The odds are long for this team to make the dance this year, and I don't buy into the argument that just because everyone will be back and more experienced, this is an NCAA team next year. Now, if Watson is an all rookie team guy and Dickens is a rim protector for 15 minutes a game, or if we find a Michael Brown type guy as a 5th year 2 guard, we have something.
Go Friars!

Walk is definitely right about the start. An offensive start like the last 2 games on the road in front of 18K rabid fans would not be good unless the defense is keeping the Bluejays off the board at the other end, which is asking a lot.
They need to defend and rebound on one end and make their shots early. Turning the Bluejays over would be a plus. Put pressure on the young PG and Zierden or the walk on. And keep Patton from those alley oops.
Not confident they can do it.
(BTW, don't think Marquette on Saturday is going to be an easy game either. They have played quite well offensively last couple of games).

If Creighton shoots below their season average on 3 point % we will have a great shot at winning, assuming we shoot our average fg % or better.

Yankee, the road games at X and Butler are irrelevant. That was our roughest stretch of the season for a very inexperienced team at the time. We have grown a lot since then, and things have changed since.
I am predicting a win tonight. Very winnable game. We played Creighton tough for 30 minutes last time with all things considered that game. This time around we have Cartwright healthy, they lost their engine, and I'd say Bullock was in a real funk to start BE play. We have gained a ton of confidence since and we are knocking on the door tonight.
We played well enough to win at Gtown, Marq, SHU. Expecting the the team to be absolutely locked in tonight.
Patton gets in foul trouble early.
