1.Was a beautiful weekend in PVD.Nate's hockey team won its 9th straight vs. UCONN on Friday.Friars beat 22 Butler before a sellout crowd at the Dunk.Good time with great friends as well. 2. The close to the BE season is going to be very interesting.Teams 5-to-9 as the standings sit today are between 5-8 and 6-7.Realistically,each of those five could finish anywhere from 5th to 9th. 3. Beating Butler is a very good win for Ed Cooley's team.Earlier in the day,the Bulldogs were picked as a 4 seed for. nCAA in the early Pick thing the Committee is doing.Signature victory. 4. Friars won ugly. But that is fine with me.A top 25 win is a top 25 win. 5. Jackson had one of his best games of the season.Made some big shots.Lewis wanted no parts of Jackson when the press was on. 6.Especially impressive win with Bullock shooting 4-15 and Cartwright 4-13.Less a slam on the two of them than a compliment to the other guys for stepping up when needed. 7.Holt did little early.Did play well in crunch time.Got to do something about his foul issues.18 Minutes ain't enough from him. 8.Lindsey has been rebounding really well, especially in traffif, of late.Had a couple of big boy rebounds late in the A Butler game.Need to get him more than six shots a game. 9.Diallo had nothing in half one.Played great in half two.A star in the making. 10. Swider and Reeves appeared to be into the game. 11. Cooley did a good job yesterday. 12. The fans were loud and enthusiastic, especially in its last several minutes.Could see its positive impact on the players. 13. Bring on X.

Point #6 highlights how critical it is to bring in a shooter for next season...is it too late?
If I may, I'd like to add a #14:
14. This squad's IQ took a hit with the loss of Edwards.

More Edwards means less who...bullock's given cooley plenty of chances to sit his ass, so he's either replacing Lindsey or Diallo.

Two things especially hit home from pc71's enumeration:
Holt definitely needs to give us more than 18 minutes but playing out of position hasn't helped his proclivity to foul...so c'mon Kalif Young step the heck up and buy us some time with Holt by playing some quality minutes...as the saying goes, you aren't a Freshman anymore SO Man-Up kid
Lindsey is playing hard and those rebs that '71 mentioned were with contact...Lindsey and "Contact" before this year were like water and oil I am so happy for the kid BUT let's face it, we need Rodney too. Sooo..I propose Jalen gets half of Rodney's perimeter shots and we go on a run.
For some reason I think our rather low BB IQ team still has some big surprises left in them. I have been down on this team all year but have to admit that Alpha and Jalen keep me watching. I wish I could add Young to that list.

Jalen has been a revelation this year. He is looking more comfortable handling the ball and he is actually shoit in off the dribble. I saw something yesterday from him that I've never seen him do. He came off a screen and hit a shot. I know it's not a big deal but his first two years all he did was spot up in the corner. He's improved a lot. I still think Jalen has another level.

Young seems to have regressed to me. He use to at least be able to run the floor well, but with the added weight, I have not seen that recently. He gave us absolutely nothing on Saturday and was lucky he wasn't T'd up after screaming a profanity at a Bulldog, when a Butler player was called for an offensive. His lack of an offensive skill set is most frustrating. The best thing I can say is that I have not had to see him turn it over recently, be going to the line for 2.
Holt needs to find a way to be on the floor for 30+ by staying out of foul trouble. Young should be playing 8 minutes per game or less. I actually liked the smaller lineup that played for 5 or 6 minutes against Butler.

MIGHT BE ADDING JACKSON TO THAT LIST.IF HE CAN PLAY LIKE HE DID VS. BUTLER AND AT NOVA AND THE TEAM WILL BE THAT MUCH BETTER.

We agree that Holt needs to get us more than 18 minutes a game for this team to be able to best compete.Young has been disappointing .Small lineup can work for limited minutes vs. some teams.Nova does it---albeit with better talent.Beat X the other day without Reynolds.

Young needs to transform himself this off-season, because he will have two bigs coming in to challenge him for playing time...if he transforms his body and improves his free-throw shooting, he will compete for playing time. A mid-range jumper is also a must or he'll be relegated to a fill-in role.
I like the kid and I believe he will give it his best shot...BUT...the reality is that he has a Top-100 recruit and a 7-footer (close, anyway) who will be hungry to make a splash...throw in a Mading-type swing player and Mr. Young better get after it right after the season ends.

I actually liked the smaller lineup that played for 5 or 6 minutes against Butler. As Ed said in post-game, he has to keep giving minutes to the young players to develop them. But there are games where the match-ups come in to play. On Wednesday night, Delgado was pushing Holt all over the floor where Young was able to at least push back on him somewhat. I think Ed realizes Holt needs to be a 4 at some point and so he hopes Young can give some minutes at the 5 early in games. Young actually took an 18 footer against the Hall so maybe he is developing more in practice. But as I have posted before, Young cannot be in a close game late due to his FT shooting( or lack there of)

More Edwards means less who...bullock's given cooley plenty of chances to sit his ass, so he's either replacing Lindsey or Diallo. Those two guys have been playing well as late too. Edwards can play PG if needed. Cartwright should play less next season and White should get more minutes at both guard spots too. Bullock should and probably will sit more if other players can score more, but right now, contributions have not been consistent across the board and nobody else can be depended upon for consistent points. For that reason, I would say that yes, we do stand to improve more than other teams who are more polished within our league (and we do not have to worry about losing guys to the NBA draft too). I like a lineup with Bullock, Lindsey, Diallo, a PG and performing big man next season. Diallo should be able to handle SG in a lineup like that, but if not, Edwards will be able to participate from either guard position. As pointed out, the guys aren't there yet, but Cooley has gotten the job done in the past....this was expected...guys left for the NBA...a little patience...

Has Young really been disappointing though? His national recruiting comp on 247 was 331. He was a recruiting reach and seems to be playing to his ranking, or better?
Alpha Diallo was 117 (95 on ESPN).
Makes sense, right?
For the record: Maliek was 128. Dickens is currently 139. Watson is 89.
