Providence College investigating 13 students sent to hospital for suspected drug, alcohol use

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence College has launched an investigation after 13 students attending a concert this week were sent to a hospital for suspected drug and alcohol use.
College spokesman Steve Maurano says the students were transported to Rhode Island Hospital on Monday night after they were screened before entering the concert by DJ Avicii at the college.

No arrests were made. Maurano says school officials contacted the students' parents, and the college's Office of Community Standards will be reviewing each student's actions to see if discipline is warranted.
The 13 students were among 2,600 who attended the concert.
