NCAA to reward No. 1 seeds in NIT to last four teams not in Big DanceBy Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com March 4, 2015 2:47 pm ET The NCAA announced Wednesday it will award the top four teams not included in the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship tournament with No. 1 seeds in the NIT tournament. The NCAA releases its overall seed list after the bracket is announced, which includes every team in the tournament ranked one through 68. The new provision will also rank teams at 69, 70, 71 and 72, with those teams hosting a home game during the NIT Tournament. "We think this is a natural progression to make, given that these are the last four teams under consideration for the NCAA tournament," Dan Gavitt said, NCAA vice president of men's basketball championships. "They have earned the opportunity to be a number one seed in the NIT and play home games in their quest to make it to Madison Square Garden for the NIT championship. We believe this is an appropriate way to connect these two postseason tournaments."www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/25092949/ncaa-to-reward-no-1-seeds-in-nit-to-last-four-teams-not-in-big-dance

Makes sense, afterall the ncaa creeps run both now
Isn't it nice to be playing with house money Saturday for a change? ans Yes
Isn't it nice NOT to have to listen to walk and friara dueling banjos minutae about the selection committee and whether we are IN or OUT?
ans YES, but hopefully some seeding chatter will be nice next week
Speaking of the NIT...does anyone remember when wtm was hissed off that our .500 record precluded us from NIT participation?
The team was playing decent near the end of the season and he so loved that squad...so he started a petition to tell the NIT committee to make a special exemption for us to get a bid. I can't remember what year that was but he sure took some heat for his actions.
Of course not as much heat as when he marched 50 or 60 of us in a Parade from the Westin to the Dunk as a rally before a BIG game. Say what you want, but even the internet bullies have to admit that the guy has unbelievable PASSION for our Friars...Oh did I tellya about the Friar Museum he has in his house?

Hmm...don't recall that it was that one...but I do recall that friggin Peeps made those Brown T-Shirts for the Pitt game and wtm burned his when he got home. Good Ole Peeps subsequently retired from the T-Shirt industry.
Do you remember that year when wtm, thefriarman and I held the "M-A-R-C-U-S sign up on the baseline which turned his career around completely? Yep the thing was like 20 feet long. Regrettably, I was the one who made it in my cellar replete with tomato garden sticks affixed every 5 feet or so to hold it up. I must admit that Marcus played very well after he and Kabba laughed their arses off. wtm is dangerous when he has idle time.

Thanks for da' memories dex...
Alas yesterday's bummer has once again rendered me wounded, just another of the thousand little cuts we all have as Friars.
The NIT NOT "petition" was fondly recalled by some of us yesterday pre-game as I reminded all it was John Linehan's last game as a Friar, (think vs. G'Town), where he was rudely thrown to the floor for yet another 'no call' - and I think we may have actually had a losing -1 500 season...oh well - it was fun though. Those NYC NIT sharpies must have though I was delusional - I was.
The infamous Parade to the Dunk was a different matter and a different game - think we won that one - and it was awesome despite the cackle of negativity and teasing that has been repeated heaped upon all who joined in...
Thing was planned by a few yet as we rolled along the convention center heading to the Dunk from the Westin it became a spontaneous spark joined by many strangers along the route - so a few became maybe 50 or so. Then we all literally burst right into the side entrance of the old Dunk bellowing a loud "LET'S GO FRIARS" to the shocked surprise of the packed lobby - that moment in time is well worth all the naysayers to whom I strongly still respond "SCREW".
The whole M-A-R-C-U-S chant was well worth it as he woke up and went on to play much better - not saying that caused it at all - but it is true and he loved it...(so did we)
Correction - the Peeps Post Pitt T-Shirt burning blaze was a well thought out purging of demons as that puppy was ceremoniously tossed into a late night raging living room fireplace aided by a friend of mine named John Dewar. Little did I know it turned into many winters of doldrums...
Meeting freeweymini yesterday at the Butler game was the highlight of yet another forgettable Friar flop.
