John shouting: Great Day to be a Friar!
Crowd clapping in the background
Cooley: rankings not something we think about, on to Yale, where the focus is
This weekend games:
What you think of officiating? I think they did a really good job ( ) In the end officiating will balance out. We will win on determination, grit
John commenting on how the last shot by Grant could have been called a foul they way they were calling game. Cooley: officials try to let players make the play. Officials have a tough job.
Team has to take on a resilient personality, understand how the game is called. Thought the team was soft around the rim. Had too many and ones in this game. Don't allow ball to get to the rim. Going to work on that.
On Henton: first BE player of the week for the year. Cooley talking about him as the first recruit. He put on his cape, no kryptonite, he had a great day, basket looked like an ocean. Great sign of maturity. LaDonte is a champion. He could have won the MVP at BE tourney last year.
How is Dunn and Lindsey: both are sore, on crutches, questionable for Friday, swollen, surprised if they play Friday. Xrays and MRIs tomorrow. Lindsey shot should have been a foul because can't undercut a shooter but it is what it is.
5 - 0, 5 games in 8 days to start the season....
End of first segment
Second segment:
Ladonte named national player of the week by CBS...
Talking about the key FTs by Carson on 1on1....fifth year senior stepped up...FT shooting wins championships, we spend a ton of time on them, dead ball situations..FTs, blockout, contesting shots are what it comes down to.
Your best players are normally taking most FTs...we will be fine.
Bob Driscoll on now: talking about Soccer game, almost 3,000 spectators at the game. was stunned at the turnout but the students seeing PC can be successful. Next game at home against UC Irvine, hope it's cold and snow for those West coast guys..talking about the people that came before that helped to get soccer to this point..heard from Chaka earlier today..most wins in PC history. People believing leading to bigger donations...Mohegan was like a home court advantage, they want us to come back in future, perfect win including the Dave Gavitt cup...mentioned a 1M+ donation just came in for the bball center
Cooley talking about the crowd, amazing, felt like the Dunk again. Helped the Friars win. An exciting time. Friar central at Mohegan....would definitely look to do a neutral site game there.
End of second segment
Third segment:
JR: Big East is currently 30-2 in the early OOC games
Cooley: league has a very competitive schedule. Yale picked second behind Harvard, lots of seniors. We need the fans to come to the Dunk. Last year only beat them by 2 last year and we loss 40% of points from that one. Have our handful in next 3 games.
JR: fans talking about Yale as a trap, but know coach and team do no see it as that. Yale has a good RPI. Why did you schedule before UK> TV has a lot to do with our schedule. Have to schedule with eye to RPI and selection time.
One thing to play these games and high ratings, need to win these games (JR), Cooley>last time I looked we haven't lost.
Cooley > Since the day we walked in we talked about culture family everyone all in....has not been easy but we have built a culture, people buy in, have come a long way from that first day. We have climbed the mountain, not at the top but we are far up there. JR> What is Pinnacle of success: Cooley> WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Cooley: watched every UK and Yale game to get ready, Staff does a good job to prepare the players for games. Lack of preparation will kill you.
End of third segment
Segment four:
Friday is Toys for Tots day at the Dunk, bring an unwrapped toy and you get a ticket for a future game. Santa will be at the game and people will get to take a picture with him after the game.
Cooley talking about how he likes Christmas, now singing with John.... ... more about the kids that don't have then those that do....
Lots of great ways to be part of the crowd
Cooley> Yale is a very good team, very concerned about the game
Cooley on overall development> take it day by day, see them getting better day by day right now. Dunn is thinking the game more than that first one...he is slowing it done to execute better....Cartwright> what have him focus on right now? let the ball find the open player, want the ball to move
Court awareness by Tyler seems to have improved (JR), Cooley> proud on what he has done, a ball mover not a ball sticker right now
Unsung hero right now is Carson> does things avg fan doesn't see. Great leadership, him and LeDonte
JR on Ben Bentil> Cooley> I want to be Ben, his body and smile...but I need to see his on ball defense, he will become a national name in future
End of segment four
Keys to the game:
What need to beat Yale> disciplined, physical, score at the rim, fast break
Dunn and Lindsey will be questionable for the game, don't count on them playing.
That's it.
