I told myself I'd be happy with a split, but after today's showing, I've changed my mind!
PC's perimeter defense will be tested tomorrow. ND's averaging a little over 20 3-point attempts per game so far on the season, while hitting nearly 40% of them. They used an 8-man rotation vs. UMass; their backcourt nearly played the entire game.
Grant, the senior, 6'5 guard, put on a show with 24 points and 8 assists. ND went small for the most part; aside from Auguste, no other player above 6'4"-6'5" saw the court, accept in relief of the big man.
Can the Friars beat e'm up inside?

I really think PC can win this game. I watched the game twice today and you can see guys confidence growing and we are improving every game. Now that Lindseys shot is falling he is going to start producing on the offensive end and Kris Dunn is literally doing anything that he wants to do. I expect us to win this game. Notre Dame is a soft team that doesn't stop anyone ever. This team isn't UMass. I think if we jump on them early Notre Dame will fold.

I was at the games today. What a great atmosphere and performance by our Friars. PC has not had this quality and quantity of depth since the 93-94 and96-97 teams. Coach finally has some viable options when he looks for them on his roster. PC has better interior players.Grant,Jackson and Connaughton are decent. But PC has answers for them.I could see Ed pressing them some during the game.UMass did it effectively at times this afternoon.Seeing both teams in the flesh today,I think PC is better and will win on Sunday. Go Friars.

I wish I could've been there. I haven't had a chance to watch Notre Dame this year but Mike Brey's teams usually play the same way every year. I think they don't have an answer for Dunn or our interior. I expect Harris, Henton, and Bentil to kill em tomorrow inside.

I was also hoping a split. Of course now I want the sweep. I still think 10-3 is where we need to be heading into conference play. Looking at the slate that's no small task. In fact I was and still am worried about getting there. If we can keep picking these off now it leaves more margin for error later.
If the guys bring the same game and intensity they did today, start to finish....they'll win. But will probably be a completely different matchup and game plan.
I hope our shots are falling again and we grab the win. Would be huge to get this one tomorrow.

This is typically the type of team he gives fits. Speaking of intensity, I'm really curious to see if the Friars have the "eye of the tiger" going early. I think Cooley's got this team super focused. No worries about getting "trapped" until Yale.

Sure - they would play with and beat MOST teams dmac...
Heading down shortly for what I expect to be a quite different contest. Agree this game will require a much different approach and I am intrigued to see just what adjustments both teams will be making today.
Needs saying: Cooley is the boss man but his assistants are impressively involved way beyond making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the lads. Keep an eye on the substitutions and defensive looks we throw at them to counter their patient style of play and outside shooting.
Here's hoping our team gets that yesterday was yesterday, read the FSU game stories tomorrow.
Don't want them overconfident, giddy-up and crazy eyed - that is a concern I have anyway. Today is yet another challenge against a very different and very confident team requiring them to work the game plan the staff rolls out.
Of course I would revel in another run from the gun but I will absolutely take a i point OT nail biter as long as we get the W.
And something close to that this afternoon would not be a surprise...

My main concern today is that the much more experienced Grant takes Dunn out of his game and/or gets him in foul trouble. Grant is a big time player who might be in the NBA next year. This is a major barometer for the team and Dunn's success.

I think Dunn can handle Grant but remember we have two other capable wing defenders. Lomomba may play a lot more today than he did yesterday to slow down Grant. I expect Lindsey to play him some as well.
