Nice article by Stacum.
I do not see Croshere as a Center. My picks are:
1. Marvin Barnes 2. Otis Thorpe 3. John Thompson 4. Jim Hadnot 5. Dickey Simpkins

Think I would have had Simpkins 5a and Miscevecious 5b. Agree with everyone on Croshere - he was a power forward who could knock down a 3. Miscevecious was a different type of center - but a center. I might have him slightly ahead of Simpkins.

I love Hadnot at #4
I saw him all 3 years and he got better and better and better. Three years post season tourneys including NIT '61 champs and final in '60 neither of which would have happened without him
Along with Lenny, Johnny, and Friar Joe; Jumbo Jim is included as the foundation of the Friar basketball program we enjoy to this day.
Unfortunately he passed away before he was officially recognized by PC.
I like Big Beef over Dickie too

Cant believe someone as storied in PC basketball history as Stacom would list AC as a center especially since he played two seasons with Garces

Only the old timers will remember my favorite Friar center because he only played 1 year but it was a great one averaging over 14 points and 12 rebounds as a Sophomore. Dexter Westbrook. Poor academics I believe kept him from playing any further than his sophomore year

If he came back for his junior year we would have been ranked preseason somewhere 1 thru 4

If he came back for his junior year we would have been ranked preseason somewhere 1 thru 4 Westbrook's jumping ability was almost beyond belief. The freshman team 1963-1964( freshman could not play on the varsity during the time) could beat most D1 teams that year. The team featured Jimmy Walker, Mike Riordon and Dexter Westbrook. Freshman played prior to varsity games and during that year Alumni Hall was packed for the earlier Freshman games. Five additional players from that freshman team we went on to play with the varsity the following season. Often forgotten was that same year 1964-1965( Westbrook"s sophmore year) 6'8" Bob Kovalski, the only played over 6'7" was academically ineligible.PC team went on to a 24-2 record before losing to Princeton in the Elite Eight.

Was a long time ago but if I remember correctly that freshman team got got more ink than the varsity team. I think hearing so much about those 3 and what they would bring to the varsity the next year is what made me start being a fan. I remember I was deciding between PC and UConn as to which team to root for. My stepdad, who had just married my Mom, played on some UConn NCAA teams about 12 years earlier so it wasn’t an easy choice. Don’t regret the choice I made either.

Yeah, 1 year no matter how good can’t place him on this list but if he had played another even close to it he would be on this list. I was just pointing out he is my favorite PC center of all time and probably somewhat forgotten about because he only played one year. You had to love his name too.
