The best Friar basketball player of all time. Got to watch him for two years at PC.
The best performance I can remember was against a good Holy Cross team at the Worcester Memorial Auditorium. As I recall (remember there was no 3-pt shot back then), Jimmy was 19-21 from the field and 10-11 from the line. 49 points!
Let's hear from others with their Jimmy Walker stories.
PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

My passion for PC hoops started with the Jimmy Walker led 1964-1965 team. Was in High School and watched them on TV and listened on the radio to Chris Clark. Greatest Friar basketball player ever. Why I wanted to attend PC.

Is my memory correct? Jimmy went off for 50 points at the Holiday Festival in New York, right?

Walker was way ahead of his time, tremendous ball handler, unmatched court vision and awareness, great shooter and a fearless competitor

Again why did PC players wear different numbers, home and away?

Again why did PC players wear different numbers, home and away? It was N NCAA rule. I believe even numbers home, odd numbers away..

Again why did PC players wear different numbers, home and away? Just the way it worked back then for many schools - even at home, odd on the road, (easier for the refs to call numbers on fouls, etc) Walker was incredible, ahead of his time.All-star in the pros, but could have been better, if he took care of himself.

Again why did PC players wear different numbers, home and away? It was a weird custom of the day, white home jerseys carried one number and black away jerseys the cones number. I know neither the reaso for it or when it actually came a stop.

As the story goes, Walk had 3 or 4 sons, all of whom played D1 ball, all with different last names (from the mom).
Last son was Jalen Rose.

Why I wanted to attend PC. Same year I started watching them. I was only 9 years old and I was debating whether to be a PC fan or UConn fan because my Mom had just remarried a guy who played at UConn 10-15 years earlier so I had a decision to make. Jimmy Walker was the reason I chose to be a PC fan.
