Agree Yankee..but it gets complicated as you know. A veteran pg in the portal is going to want minutes..and Pierre isnt going to want to stay if he isn't the lead guy. Similar situation to what we saw with Odoru and all the transfer bigs we went after. In the transfer portal/NIL world that we live in..Chris Rogers ain't walking through that door anymore I think the bigger problem is defense if JP plays the 2 guard. With limited sampling, JP seems to be a pretty good shooter but he struggles defensively against mostly BE PG. So if the experienced PG that comes in is also small, playing alongside JP as a shooting guard will cause defensive problems unless the new PG is very good defensively.

I have been saying for awhile Pierre is a typical combo guard. Not the first time he has shot welll BUT certainly not the first time he has been a no show as distributing PG. who was the Australian PH we supposedly led for along with Graham Ike. Add those 2 and this team is stays on top 25 even after Bryce goes down IMHO. But as someone said if you promise Pierre the starting job and it was obvious Josh was Kim’s guy, others backed away. Hoping. I promises other than Bryce.

Sure that 3 GMU players and one recruit coming with KE set perception that anyone at the same position would not be preferred to the coach's players

I am confident in saying that we will all be disappointed in next years outcome, if we are unable to bring in some point guard veteran leadership. Cost us a bid this year. No we did more than enough to get in the field of 68. They are trying to expand the tournament. You leave out half of a league and they are up and arms & when they go back to talk about rule changes, etc. they will point to what happened last sunday I do understand what your getting at

Pierre’s passing and vision was better last year, at least it feels that way Yes, last year, we wanted more of him, but this year, he was in over his head a bit. It feels like he started well, then got injured, and then when Hopkins went down, he needed to step up, but had some struggles. I’d like to see Dual return, but even if he does, I do agree that PC needs another PG who can handle the ball and create opportunities for everyone else.

Complicated or not, it needs to be figured out. Pierre and Dual played 62 combined minutes last night and had 2 assists total. Our starting center had 4. If Pierre walks, he walks. We need to get better at the PG spot. You are correct, we do need to get better at the point guard position and I think we will. Undoubtedly during this season Pierre and Barron got noticbly better and Carter went through the roof. Also worth noting is it was not expected of Barron and Carter improved beyond wildest expectations. Regrettably the staff in an effort to bolster Pierre’s confidence exhaulted expectations of him. His improvement and performance was not consistent but still on balance noticeable. Last night he tried to be the alpha dog and although the effort was there it was too much pressure on him. He shot well but was a disaster handling the point. He is not ready for that assignment yet and won’t have to be with Hopkins coming back. Other than Oduro there was no other offense on the floor and that contributed to the lack of assists. The turn overs are not acceptable. With less of the scoring burden on his shoulders and a better supporting cast I feel he will be much better. Keep in mind Horchler, Croswell, Minaya , Pipkens and even Carter needed time to develop.

We need a guy like TaLon Cooper on South Carolina. They had a solid PG, Meechie Johnson, like Pierre he was a little wild and more of a scorer. They start together and had a great year at SC
Maybe Bensley Joseph could be that guy, but will Pierre stick around?

We did not do enough to get in the tourney. not close actually. remember the following for next year - play a better ooc, win some road games, BET doesn't mean much.

And, two wins against Creighton (one home, one neutral) and one win at home against Marquette, and one at home against WI didn't mean enough with only one neutral win against GA plus a neutral loss to KS St, and the bad road loss at OK.

5 wins against DePaul and GTown meant virtually nothing... Same can be said for many other bubble teams, including the 6 teams from the MWC. Bottom 3 teams were a combined 8-46. ....gotta love friartown...

I felt good about how the PC (potential) returning players played last night overall without Carter and Barron. That guard group of Pierre, Dual, and Floyd along with Castro in the post is still young, talented, somewhat inexperienced, with plenty of potential for growth.

I still like to believe that the easiest path to success is consistent hard work with the same group believing in each other. Bring in one or two older portal players each year along with one or two great potential young recruits. Build the culture and belief in each other over time, and grow together. It's rare to find Mindset as a team in a short period of time; it needs to be developed.
