Because redshirts don't stay even when that's the plan. Plus we need his scholarship for a good player. You know nothing about him, so how can you intimate he is not a good player. All you experts amaze me. Give the kid an opportunity to show if he is good or not. I wish we had that kind of time/roster flexibility. If he couldn't play this year when we had Carter, Oduro, and an island of misfit toys, then he can't play for us when we upgrade the talent. Same goes for Santoro.

There were a lot of minutes available at the 3/4/5 this year...for anyone that had some skill set. I would have thought he could/would have grabbed some if the staff thought he could remotely help us. It was late in the game, McNair F'd us, and we took a gamble. I have no issue with it, but it's doubtful that it could or should be a long term solution.

no idea about eli, santoro, or bonke except to say it will take a lot of bad luck for this team to be in a similar position going forward.
Floyd 28min - not a bucket Pierre 30min - not one assist (did manage 6 TOs) Ticket - 30+min - not a single rebound
Listen to our coach. Never again. He was embarrassed the other night.

Yes, Saturday night was extremely embarrassing in many ways.
It’s not personal. We need to upgrade the roster significantly.

If Oswin is suiting up next year, I expect him to play, and I also expect Bonke to play. Castro has his faults, but if we already have two centers, are we really expecting someone to transfer with no guaranteed playing time? Slim is well liked, and if he's open to the last seat on the bench, I'd welcome him back. For all the questions, I'm excited about our prospects at center next season.
I hope and expect CFJ to return, but not as a starter. He seems like a good guy who likes the program, and it looks like his family is helping to sell recruits on the program. If there's a better opportunity out there for him, I'll wish him the best, but I hope Kim doesn't push him away.
I expect Cooley to make a run at Hopkins and Dual; Hopkins has done everything he can to confirm that he's planning to return, but my gut tells me that Dual is going to move along.
Pierre showed so much promise his freshman year, and it sucked to see him struggle this year after returning from injury. There's obviously going to be another PG transferring in, but I hope Kim sticks with Pierre because I believe he can be a contributor next year.
As noted, I expect a second guard to transfer in as well. A combo guard with size.
I'll rocking my Barron jersey next season and hoping to see more to his game! Defense, specifically.
I'm excited about Mela, but agree we'll see two forwards transferring in. Mela looks like he has game and he'll have his moments, but I think he's going to have to bulk up a bit to handle BE play.
If the plan was for Eli to redshirt, I'd think he'd get a chance to play next season, unless it's clear to Kim that he's not cut out for BE ball.

If so, they'd have plenty of guaranteed playing time. Bonke is in his 2nd year of playing basketball at all. If he's a 10 minute guy, it'd be a great first season for him as a Friar. Oswin re-class, he's very raw and a non-factor on offense. If I'm guessing minutes already, he'd also be around a 10 minute guy at the very most. That may be a stretch, as it may be with Bonke. So, there's 20+ minutes that would expand to 30+ as needed with a slot in the starting lineup for any big who wants the role. Basically, an Oduro-type role with the others splitting Castro's minutes. If Castro could play at this level or if the staff had any faith in him, he wouldn't be getting scraps this year when Oduro is running on fumes or in foul trouble. But, even then, he struggles to get time. I can't imagine he's back and it may not be his decision.

Oswin and Bonke won’t be ready to man the center spot for 40 minutes. The portal big will have to get 30mpg, or we get killed at the 5. The only way I see Castro on the roster next year is if for some reason Oswin stays in ‘25.

I have high hopes for Oswin. I think he’ll be here for the 2024-2025 season and I think he could get a decent amount of playing time for a freshman. Best case scenario is to get a transfer that can start at the five alongside Hopkins and can play the four when Hopkins is on the bench. Kind of like Emmitt Holt but preferably a little bigger. I really was hoping we could find a guy like that for this year’s roster.

Castro and Floyd are welcome - as #s 10 and 11. ELi #12 and Bonke #13. Now #s 1-9 need some serious work. I defer to hop as 1 and slot Barron in as the 2nd guy off the bench (7). One of pierre and dual can be #6 and the other #8/9. SO we need 4 starters and backup 4.

I’m thinking Oswin thinks that he’s going to have a chance to start, and I think that Bonke is going to play, or start.

I’m thinking Oswin thinks that he’s going to have a chance to start, and I think that Bonke is going to play, or start. If either are starting, we missed on a lot of other targets IMO.

I’m thinking Oswin thinks that he’s going to have a chance to start, and I think that Bonke is going to play, or start. This won’t be conducive to winning next year. Hop ain’t signing up for that. Kim’s comments tell me no way he’s going to battle with Slim, Bonke and Oswin manning the 5. We need to bring in 4 guys capable of starting next year, and the center needs to be one of those 4.

This is my current thinking
Pierre, Transfer Transfer, Fernandez, Floyd Transfer, Barron, Mela Hop, Transfer Transfer, Oswin, Bonke

That’s fair.
My logic is, if Oswin is coming to PC, he’s under the assumption that he’s going to be playing more than a few minutes per game. And for us to get a guy like him, he has to be thinking he’s going to have a chance to start. He’s not coming to PC to sit and learn.
Additionally, assuming forwards are transferring in, there could be a bigger PF coming with the ability to log mins as C. Kim was willing to go small with Hopkins as a center this year.
Bonke has been playing with the team already. We’re all expecting development (across the board, as we should), and it’s reasonable to expect development. Bonke was identified as a guy who can be developed. If Kim doesn’t think that Oswin and Bonke can get the job done, Bonke will likely be the odd man out, and he’ll probably be moving along to another program as early as the second semester next season.

This is my current thinking Pierre, Transfer Transfer, Fernandez, Floyd Transfer, Barron, Mela Hop, Transfer Transfer, Oswin, Bonke It has to be this, but I would hope the transfer can beat out Pierre or at least be a hell of a lot better than Dual was this year.
