Does anyone know where Fr. Sicard's Nursing School/facilties will be built on our existing campus? Or will it be on any acquisition land? If you go on Providence.edu and search for "campus map", you'll see across Eaton Street from the new Shanley Hall areas outlined in red that aren't currently part of the campus.

Attempting to connect some pieces from prior things that I've read...
Perhaps Fr. Sicard's Nursing School Facilities will be located to the South East in Newport, on PC's - "Salve" campus. SRU does have a nursing program afterall.

There are two Catholic Schools south and west of Boston with nursing programs and you have to think will they be around at the end of the 20's? Fewer Catholics and high private school tuition,it doesn't add up. BC,HC,Emm. have RN program, seems every Cat school does. momentum.providence.edu/shanley-residence-hall/

Good pay, plenty of jobs. It's actually a big draw. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

I've read some things about Salve doing some prelim work with the city in preparation to build two residence halls. That sort of conflicts the PC stuff about interest in their property.

Given market conidtions and the likely hit on the Collge's limited endowment...will need to major fundraising into a likely economic downturn with a relatively modest % of alum's contributing

Shanley is under construction and I got to talk to Fr. Sicard at the Season Ticket Holders Event.
I asked him about the Nursing school. He said discussions with Salve didn't work out. The last he's heard, it's targeted for the Fennell Hall building and area.

Received an alumni survey from Sicard…last question which was what they really wanted to know…how interested would you be in giving to a new fundraising campaign…I guess the $75K I pay for my son to attend is not enough…honestly the college needs more land and shoehorning Shanley Hall a Nursing school etc leaves little space and no parking… plus area behind Fennell toward Cad Brawn…is a tough area with crime around the college a towards students is areal issue.
Funny after giving for close to 30 years and paying full boat the school not once has asked how my son is doing does he need help etc….

They announced at the Season Ticket holders party that CFO John Sweeney is actively engaged in working out parking solutions for the campus.
We need the Nursing Program and the Business School to keep up with both the competition and demand. These are accomplished with ongoing efforts to raise money. That is the way of the educational world as we know it today.
Every parent is challenged nowadays with the costs of education. Fortunately, Providence College is, and has been, in a sweet spot admissions-wise. We are a 20% institution, which many schools can't say anymore. While we can only fit 1200 students in a freshman class, the numbers work like this. 12,000 students apply, 6,000 get accepted and 1200 attend. I sat in on admission discussions as Class Ambassador and learned the science of admissions. Many schools in the area are in the 15% category meaning they need to let in more students to get their numbers. This lowers their standards to achieve full enrollment.
PC is fortunate in this regard. But we continually need to improve and upgrade both our campus and our programs.
