We all have read about many potential consequences of COVID-19. Unemployment, Deep Economic Downturn, Increase in depression and opioids among sequestered citizens, a subsequent 2nd wave as society re-opens, the re-imagining of the workplace with a greater emphasis on remote productivity, reductions in rodent populations as closed restaurants result in less waste and starved rats! It goes on and on.
So, I've pulled out my crystal ball, and offered up a few projections of my own:
1. An end-of-year baby boom will be experienced among individuals aged 20-35. Additionally, the marriage rate will pickup amongst this cohort (so much for social distancing!). 2. Libs will point to the positive effects of shutting down society, such as improved O2 levels and other environmental indicators (energizing proponents of the "New Green Deal" to "stay the course"). 3. Many individuals will come to appreciate the "simpler things in life", driving down consumerism and conspicuous consumption (collect experiences vs. things). 4. The increased rate of communications (in-person, over the phone and via tools such as Zoom) and concern will help to restore and reconnect families previously impacted by an impersonal, mobile society. 5. The annoying and self-indulgent tweets of narcistic celebrities will become of lesser interest among a better grounded population. 6. Large Malls and Movie Theatres will continue their trajectory toward mothballs, as society leverages digital forms of transaction and entertainment. 7. The value proposition of fall foliage on beautiful campuses, attractive coeds, gameday revelry, and impressive buildings offered by Universities will be heavily discounted by parents going forward. 8. Yet, individuals will long for a sense of belonging - hopefully to institutions that are value based, making for a healthier society.
What projections might you have?

I hope corporations and their leaders/owners will be less greedy and help out society more as some are doing.

I hope corporations and their leaders/owners will be less greedy and help out society more as some are doing. You must be getting your news from Yahoo, cnn and msnbcLSD. Unreal..."the business of America is business" look it up about 100 years old Not since WW2 has a Prez of this Republic assembled private enterprise to rally together to come to the aid of their country. It has been breath-taking to witness. Here in RI Honeywell fired up their plant and hired 500 employess to start making respirators and masks. CVS opened outdoor testing assembly lines via auto in the parking lot of Twin Rivers Casino and immediately starting testing way more citizens than our dufus liberal hack Governor could muster. While American know-how went to work under the leadership of Trump and especially the emerging greatness of Michael Pence; your liberal hack Governor of NY was asleep along with NYC Mayor and imploring NYers to celebrate st Paddy's Day as usual, ride the subways as usual, go to the gym as usual and etc etc On Monday and Tuesday during Cuomo's daily soap opera auditioning presser, he and other liberal radicals who made us radical kids of the 60's look like choir boys; were shouting that Trump is not a KING...a friggin "KING" they were shouting in unison. and then the guidelines yesterday AND lo and behold Trump told the Governors there are your guidelines signed onto by Birtz and Fauci; NOW go out and impliment as you see fit in your State. Have FUN! The State budget holes are going to be at bankruptcy levels AND the Governors will come back to our Prez and say HELP HELP as Cuomo already did today. I say, Let Them Call Pelosi and Schumer and Schiff and Nadler and that poor spousal abused soul Sleepy Joe Biden freak THEM, let them eat cake AND say P-L-E-A-S-E

Lots of good points '82...others will think of more.
The one item I would HOPE takes hold by the people is forcing their leaders to END Sanctuary State Status in those States run by radical leftist MFers like Gina Raimondo in RI
I'm tired of paying for all their friggin benefits and I'm ashamed to watch decent folks that pay their way in life and health insurance wait for hours in clinics, ER's and social service offices. I am also sick of seeing these Dem Socialist Party hacks releasing criminal illegals and refusing to cooperate with Federal authorities.
ps back to St Cuomo for a moment. Is he a saint when he allows killing babies when the woman is dialating and the babies head is showing? I call it infanticide. RI's Governor, a woman, is denied the sacraments for saidpractice. Howsabout when Cuomo lets violent criminals go scott free from an arraignment with NO BAIL? And if an illegal alien, doesn't report it to ICE.

Now it's revealed that Pastor Cuomo had a $6 BILLION dollar hole in his budget BEFORE the coronavirus hit.
Guaranteed that bastage will sneak that in when he begs Trump for $$ to cover pandemic expenditures.
Imagine Cuomo preaching to mormal people who do their job. This clown had the cupboard bare when it comes to medical equipment and supplies....the ahole Minoi Mike Bloomberg at least bought 500 ventilators when the Health Dept said he needed 15,000 of them.
Cuomo actually sold them off. Trump has been way too easy on this rotten filthy radical leftist....that will end soon.
Now the snitch Nancy refuses to sign off on a ONE page addendum to the small business stimulus law.."add $250 Billion" that is out of cast but have numerous applicants out in the cold. I hope Trump does the same when all the liberal governors need deficit money this Summer.

My word!
Have you gotten drunk on the Kool-Aid!!! " Cuomo's daily soap opera" is a breath of honesty and concern compared to the comedy sketch we get most days at dinnertime delivered by our buffoon king. You rail on about the Governor's "problems" but you can't see/hear the idiocy coming from DT because you adorn yourself with blinders and earplugs.
I was really pizzed off when the king put his name on the stimulas checks but Friday's move was the most sinful political act ever committed in a time of crisis. To try and rally his red-hat yahoos in Michigan, Virginia and Minnesota to protest the governors "shelter in place" orders in those states was sickening, for they were same governors he said on Thursday would decide their individual state policy. Isn't it coincidental that in Presidential polls, the king trails Biden in all 3 states. Oh, and I forgot to say those three Governors were Democrats. Further, Michigan is number 5 in cases in the US and number 3 in deaths with both those numbers still increasing. Duh! Ya think the Whitmer knows a bit more about her state?
You can go on and on with the name-calling of Cuomo and others of the same political beliefs but you can't acknowledge the "f**k the country, I've got a political agenda" attitude that prevails whenever the king opens his mouth.
And you talk about Cuomo's deficit but not a word about the truly massive deficit the king's court created well before coronavirus.
Shame on you to throw gasoline on a political fire in a moment of crisis. Think about my daughter-in-law who is the mother of my 6-month old twin grandchildren. She is a nurse and working 12-hour shifts with Covid patients 3 days a week. Think about the tremendous stress and worry she carries every night when she returns home. Think about my niece (PC grad) who is an ER doctor at Kent in Warwick with three young boys to come home to every day. Think about all the other healthcare workers across this great country doing the same. DO YOU FRIGGIN' THINK THEY ASK THEIR PATIENTS ABOUT THEIR PARTY AFFILIATION BEFORE THEY CARE FOR THEM?
I pray for everyone's families in this pandemic, even the king's entire family. There is no room for politics (on both sides) until we've overcome this plague. And please join me in prayer that it doesn't return.
PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

As a New Yorker I have never been a fan of Cuomo but I think he has been terrific in dealing with this crisis.

Like anything else in this country, it always turns political.
Especially when states are in debt like NY, CT and will use a pandemic to get financial relief. The Governors want to run their states into the ground and then when a crisis hits, they come screaming at the Feds.
....gotta love friartown...

Yeah...the pages are blank bec I don't see, meet or greet anyone on my walks.
The rest of the time I drink, eat, watch tv and sleep.
Last night I watched The Women on TCM till 1:15 am and fell asleep at 2 am and woke at the crack of 9:09
Same thing day in and day out. I can see it for old farts like me for awhile longer than the younger healthy people.
America needs to get back to work slow but sure in May. The young and healthy with safety masks, some social distancing, workplace schedule staggering for nowetc need to go back to work.
When this is finished for this season, we will have infused 6 -8 trillion into the economy. What happens if/when it returns next season without a vaccine?
We will experience 35K deaths due to flu and 65K due to corona. The vast majority of the population is at little risk especially now using the tools that we have learned to avoid contracting this scourge. It comes down ultimately to picking your poison: stay home and watch the country transform into a 3rd world society and die on the vine or get to work and keep seniors and high risk folks in some form of shuddering. The choice is obvious
The good news? The epidemiology projections of 2.2 million deaths in the USA were a little off
God Help Us All and God Help the scientists searching for a vaccine
