Please don't compare these guys to 97. They had the perfect starting 5. Only diallo gets major minutes on that team. Cartwright would take Corey minutes. That's it. That team had the best player in the league(I don't give a crap who won poy), another first teamer in Jamel, shamgod would've been first team. The other two would play 40mpg for us. Garces probably had more rebounds in the ncaas than Watson/young in the BE regular season combined. I knew my comparison would touch a nerve or two. But my point was that they had a 21-11 record going into the dance and earned a 10th seed. That alone is striking. My 2nd point was that since they were so very talented (as you point out), they must have underachieved in the regular season and hit their capabilities in the Dance. That contrasts with the '18 team which overachieved (according to their talent level) in the BET. At no time am I suggesting that 2018 is at or near the abilities of 1997.

16 points and 19 boards against Arizona in the Elite 8 game, in just 35 minutes of action. Last 5 games played Watson/Young combined: 80 minutes 14 boards

I prefer firepower...that team had it in spades. yeah with absolutely NO bench this team has 3x the depth of the 97 team granted that 97 team was arguably the best starting 5 to ever wear the Friar uniform(maybe #2 behind 73)

I really don't like the A&M matchup. Those dudes are huge. Look how much Spellman effected the last game for Nova. Now what if there are 2 Spellmans? Watson and Young just aren't ready.

It was Bridges and Brunson who beat us......not Spellman Bridges(25) and Brunson(31) combined for 56 of the teams 76 points Spellman finished with 6 points and 9 boards

Paschal was the killer. the guy was everywhere.
Depth - our 3 guards not named cartwright combined for 10 points in the BET.

We are all going to be screaming grab a ****ing rebound. That's inevitable. But Young and Watson have been over matched when defending and on the boards all season, yet we won 21 games. Dickerson and Govan are two pretty skilled bigs and we beat them twice. We'll see what happens.

But, Spellman WAS a monster on D. I'm worried about Alpha, Kyron, and Jackson's ability to drive on these guys. I would feel better if we had a reliable 3 point threat on the wings (ahem..Lindsey).
