Dad - i'll give them effort. What exactly did lindey do besides leave his guy wide open for a game tying 3? He was awful. AGAIN.

Big key was Rodney not fouling out...
Friars went to FT line 31 times today....
Game plan was to get to the basket and paint according to Blaney...
Nothing better than playing on Friday night in the Garden...

Little to no substitutions in the 2nd Half and OT. Time for these guys to re-charge for tomorrow night.

Boy! Looking at this string, I ask where was the confidence amongst you all? I calmly watched the game expecting a win - even if it went to OT, and showed some refrain from the frantic reactions to the ebb and flow of the contest. Ugly? Perhaps. But we picked up our 20th win, which hopefully pushes us solidly into the NCAAs, without have to make a "bonus" trip to Dayton in the process. Well if you truly were that calm, I think you had something pre-game... Next up Xavier, the guys with the big mouths. Will be interesting to hear what happened in the handshake line with SJU after that first game.

Defense was the key in this one.. Friars shot 36.9 from floor and won....reminds me of the Nova game they won... A Sounds like a Rick Barnes team

I had the TV on "mute", while on a conference call with one eye on my work. As a result, I didn't really immerse myself in the game as much as I would have liked. One thing that I did detect was some gang rebounding on our part. Seemed everyone (particularly Jalen & Jax) got into the rebounding. A level of desperate play that I haven't noticed at times this season.

Outside of the miscue on the last play in OT, our defense was terrific. Thomas was a complete non factor and we did a good job preventing them from taking and making a lot of 3's.
With that said, Cartwright ducks under EVERY screen, even when there is a clear path to just go over it because the screener has already left or never set it tight. We got burned on that a few times, as it causes bad switches, such as KC on Epperson a couple times, or we let Foster/Mintz have a ton of airspace near the elbow.
Finally, I loved our effort on the glass and helping at the rim. That was some of the best defense Rodney has played and Jalen picked a great time to battle down low on both ends.
Sure there were blemishes, but overall, very happy to win and assuredly punch our ticket!

Keys: 1) Friars (uncharacteristically) outrebounded their opponent 40-34. In fact, Lindsey had 10, Jackson 9, Diallo 9 and Bullock 8. Bluejays leader (Hegner) had 8. 2) Friars hold the vaunted Bluejay offense which came in averaging 84.4ppg to just 68pts in 45 minutes.
I hope FriarTV has the reply available tonight.

Great to see the stats as they confirm what I thought was happening. Gang rebounding. Looking forward to watching the full game with the volume up.

Diallo is a winner even when he misses shots and free throws.. Love his effort around the rim. Rebounding and scoring off his own missed shot.
The team free throw shooting was so perplexing as even a small improvement would have helped. Though as someone posted Creighton missed theirs too.
( many "frustratin" rref calls today... That 'jump ball' on the Diallo rebound. That reversal off the Jax fingertip out of bounds. Yet refs let them play as well and swallowed whistle at times... So.....) .... Just quoting the Providence College Men's Basketball Team head Coach in his post- game interview.
It matters what he says and thinks and who he decides to play and to trust. Today, it was those three seniors and Diallo and Jax.
Diallo and Jax were difference makers today.
Had to love Rodney's effort today.
Yes, think everyone would agree that the entire team played hard today even those with limited minutes.
may they recover in time for the next game vs Xavier

Cooley keeps pace with Leaman with 5 straight year with at least 20 wins...
Talk about 2 great hires that year...
Hockey Friars still have work to do to get to NCAAs starting tomorrow night in with quarterfinals of HE tourney...against Maine...

Kind of ironic that they played great D today, holding a team that averages 80+ under 60 in regulation. Didn't let Creighton get a lot of open looks for 3. Then we let a kid get a wide open 3 at the end and he front rims it. Kind of makes up for the Jax shot on the rim and the ring finger call.
Great effort by the final five but especially Rodney. He played the 5 for all but a couple of minutes. Gutsy coaching call to not plays a big.

Alpha and Jackson were the difference today
I called that early in second half
FRIARMAN kind of objected to it
