Or they were over-rated. Cartwright is a nice player, but there was a reason why he was headed to Loyola Marymount. At that level he is a star, in the Big East, he's an honorable mention and a good one at that. Bullock is the same player he was 2 years ago, now playing without Bentil and Dunn. It's a lot easier to be the 3rd guy and get 11ppg than the lead guy and get 20+. They were both picked as 2nd teamers. They are 2nd or 3rd option guys, they are not get the ball in their hands and let them take the game over and win it guys. When you matchup the talent on the Big East Rosters, we are closer to the bottom than the top. So Cooley needs to improve on the recruiting front. But, what he was able to get out of what he has had to work with is pretty damn good. They were both 2nd team last year..... www.bigeast.com/news/2017/3/5/MBB_0305171451.aspx

Right, that's their ceiling. Just like Lindsey is a jump shooter, he's not going to put the ball on the floor and drive, even if he plays here 10 years. They are all limited.
In general I think players have improved under Cooley. Cartwright, Bullock and Lindsey have not over the past year. Cartwright took a huge jump last year from his sophomore year. I don't think Bullock or Lindsey have any more upside.
Maybe I'm wrong. I think for what he has had to work with, plus the early season injuries, he has pretty much gotten the max out of the roster. Just the way I see it.

so we shouldn't have expected some improvement from the senior class?
71 - I don't ever remember you questioning the talent level on the roster. Where do you see issues?

I like to rib Homers and certainly that doesn't include you walk. I will say for the record that, unlike me, PC71 has never waivered from his belief that this team would make it 5 in a row.

I keep telling myself that this is a veteran team with post-season experience. Like a hot goalie in hockey, the team can ride a hot point guard and make some noise in the post-season.
Then, I remember Rock's post about not trusting this team and I prepare for the inevitable flameout.
Just call me "Shaky, The Moyle".

So Cartwright was the third best point guard in the league? I don't think they award by position. BTW, welcome back tonton. Nice to see you here again!

While I have questioned some of Cooley's rotations this season, he has truly done a solid job. Talent wise, we are bottom half of the league. To get 10 league wins with this group, is a great accomplishment. I kind of disagree In September we were calling this the most talented PC team maybe of all time in the Big East era but now we are bottom half of league?? I think this team has a lot of talent but the bad timing injuries just took their toll. Holt going down was huge but IMO if Bullock doesn't miss Marquette game, if Kyron never rolls ankle(2x), if White doesn't miss 10 games, (think Im still missing a couple) If none of that happens(besides Holt) I think we are sitting here today with a minimum of 21 wins maybe 22-23 If Holt didn't go down you can add 2 more to that total If we get in then you have to say Ed did a good job this year(though not spectacular) His best by far was winning BET Title with 6 guys (remember 3 key players were lost in 48 hour span 1 week before season started)

The depth of this team was overrated. It's been stated since November. That and the fact that the Senior class is average at best, but that is not Cooley's fault. He had Bentil and Chukwu in the class. So I give Cooley a partial pass there.

Nut - with our seniors, there is no way you can say "if we only had kc/jl/rb, we would have won". too many no-show performances this year.
No Rodney against marq was meaningless. jax tooks his minutes and played great.

So I give Cooley a partial pass there. the depth looked partly overrated because Holt went down and White was lost for the middle of the season i think what we saw Saturday from White would've been somewhat the norm if he didn't go down We had very good depth when a 9-10 man rotation becomes a 7-8 man rotation there goes the neighborhood(or in this case the depth)

8 is plenty in college hoops.
And white played well against Xavier and a good first half against sju but look as his log, it ain't great.

example of good depth??
with all these injuries we're still talking about the NCAA tourney
If we didn't have depth to begin with that would not be the case
