1. Hearing lotsa whining after the Xavier loss last night. How many truly expected PC to win that game at Cintas on Senior Night with the BE Regular Season on the line after the Friars had defeated them at the Dunk earlier this year?X is 26-4.Their losses have been to Arizona State [back when they were playing very well], Nova twice and to PC.This team is #3 in the land and is expected to be a 1 seed in the Big Dance.Let's be real folks.
2. Friars went into that game as an 11 point underdog.
3. Of course I would have loved for the Friars to win.But---I am not angry that they did not.The better team won.
4. I loved that our guys never quit.MAL and White showed me alot yesterday.Hopefully, that will boost their confidence and they will be solid contributors in future games this season.Getting it down to 3 to end half 1 was nice.Bullock and Jalen gave us nothing last night.Even with that the Friars did not get blown away.
5. I thought the refs stunk .Thumper may not want to hear that.But---that is my view.
6.Xavier is an excellent free throw team. When you can send five guys out there at closeout time who shoot 80% or better from the charity stripe---it is tough to come back.
7.Nova at SHU and Butler at SJU were fun to watch.OT and Double OT.What a great League. For last place Johnnies to beat the Bulldogs without Ponds showed me alot.Saturday will not be a given.But--the Friars have their own fate in their hands.Cannot ask for more than that.
8. Hopefully---the Seniors will come out roaring for their last regular season game at the Dunk----especially knowing that the win is needed if they wish to attain their NCAA goals. If not---then they do not deserve it.
9.I will be at MSG next week. It should be an entertaining BET.There will be upsets!!!
GO FRIARS!!

Does it count as a win for the program if the entire game on Saturday is played at the Dunk?

Did the Friars pass the eye test last night with so many unforced TO's, disappearing act by Lindsey. I get we were 11 point dogs on Senior night, but X did nothing special to beat the Friars. Friars had opportunities to be in the lead at the start of 1/2 #2 and quickly turned it over 2 times in a row and a bad shot leads to an 11-0 run. That's what is disappointing about last night.
4. I thought Bullock gave us a hell of a lot more than Jalen. Another stat line of goose eggs for Jalen, our anointed leader by many!!!
5. I thought the refs stunk .Thumper may not want to hear that.But---that is my view. Thumper will be hunting you down.. Watch yourself at The Vig!! He will have to hunt me down also, because I agree!!
8. Hopefully---the Seniors will come out roaring for their last regular season game at the Dunk----especially knowing that the win is needed if they wish to attain their NCAA goals. If not---then they do not deserve it. Seniors continue to disappoint.
....gotta love friartown...

A win Saturday is a must, but they are going to need more than that. One can do all the projections they want but until the conference tourneys are done I can't get hyped up. History has shown there will be upsets in the tourneys that will put some team in not expected to be in and bump others out. At 19-12 if they win Saturday, just not feeling it for this bunch. (How about an opening NIT game against the Beagles. ) Sure they lost to the number 3 team in the land on their home court on senior night but the fact that 2 of the Friar seniors stunk last night is what makes it more disappointing. Referees were terrible (overall not just against the Friars), funny hearing Joe yelling at one of them over the radio. Dex should be happy with the Beagles win last night over PaschalCuse.

This team reminds me of Keno's first team....doesn't pass the eye test...way too many losses where the game was over with 10 minutes to go. They just don't have the athleticsm to compete with the top teams on a consistent basis.
I think they can get to the NCAAs with 1 more win, but this is a very flawed team. I love KC but he can't defend anyone. Neither can Bullock. And Lindsey is barely playable on nights like last night. I'm not gonna knock their careers because they've done far more good than bad, but for this program to make the next leap, Duke/Reeves has to be Carrington/Desi good and Diallo needs to turn into Ron Artest.

Come on '71 two of your Seniors didn't show. It was a damn lay-up drill and dunk fest for X. That was a winnable game last night. Not saying I expected a win, but X did not play anything close to their best game. With the exception of the center spot, PC matches up well against them. Blown opportunity.

How on Earth do we matchup with X??? Who matches up with Bluiett? Who matches up with Macura?
They are better than us..in just about every way. Our seniors would barely see the floor for that team.

Absolutely correct a. Have to give the staff credit for getting the team as far as they have gotten the last couple of years. Against pretty much any team in the BE ,the other team has at minimum the best [if not 2, 3 or more best] player on the floor.

Well we beat them once and kept Macura in check both times, so I would say he isn't a matchup problem. Bluiett hurt us last night from the line, and he hit a couple of big 3's. Game one he was awful.
Kanter and O'mara...bad matchup. Everywhere else I think we were ok in both games.

Macura doesnt beat you by scoring. He beats you by defending, forcing turnovers, intangibles...we have noone that plays like that. Jr was close last year....but not as good. Bototm line is for us to be like X, we need better players.

We do need better players. I have said that. I have said we don't have a 1 top 15 player in the league. Cooley has done a good job, this season.
'71 do you think PC played well last night? With 4 minutes to go in half 1 we had 10 turnovers, had given up 11 offensive boards and had committed 12 fouls. We didn't exactly make X work for their points, between our paint defense, away from the ball fouls, and hacking the crap out of them.
Our 2 centers had 6 points and 4 rebounds in 33 minutes. Their two centers had 20 points and 7 boards in 28 minutes. That was the matchup problem. Everywhere else we were ok. It was in game 1 too, when Kanter went for 20+ by himself.
Were we expected to win, of course not. Was that a winnable game? Hell yes.

If Xavier does get a No. 1 seed, I think that sets up the Big East for some egg on its face. They're good...but they're not No. 1 seed good.

During Saturday's Senior Day festivities, I hope they honor the off-balance shot and the missed free throw...those two need to graduate and move on!

[/fontThanks for making my point Yankee.PC was outplayed by better players who are #3 in the Country.Yet---we were within 3 at the half and had it down to 6 late in the game.Just could not get over the hump-----X and its 80% free throw shooters were a big part of that. Our guys did not quit----and I was encouraged by how MAL and White played.
Do not discount how huge this game was for X.They have clinched a tie for first in the BE.Look at the Cincy papers and read how excited they are about that. Also---the revenge factor was big.
