I just feel they are in the midst of a 5 game tailspin... a Cooley team going in the wrong direction in February, not something expected to see this year

As close to "home" as Rodney will play in his final season, coupled with White and Watson (not to mention Dickens) being from the region.

Kmac Article
WASHINGTON — The clock is ticking on the NCAA Tournament fortunes of Providence College.
After losing two of their last three games at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center (with a little help from Alumni Hall), the Friars have painted themselves into a perilous corner in the last week of play in the ultra-competitive Big East. With an 8-7 record and three games to play, the Friars could finish anywhere from third to ninth. That wide range carries many scenarios, from splendid to putrid.
PC (17-11) begins its final stretch with a visit to Georgetown on Saturday. This game is considered a toss-up by hoop insiders and Vegas wags alike. Next Wednesday brings a trip to Xavier on Senior Night for Trevon Bluiett and J.P. Macura. The Friars will be double-figure underdogs against the fourth-ranked Musketeers. The final game of the regular season is at The Dunk against St. John’s and its scoring star, Shamorie Ponds. The Friars will celebrate their seniors that day and should be mild favorites.
That range of opponents brings a range of potential outcomes. PC could finish 2-1 and hope that a 10-8 Big East finish is good enough to squeeze into the NCAA Tournament for a fifth straight season. It also could easily finish 1-2 or (gulp) 0-3 and travel to Madison Square Garden in dire need of a win or two to pad its resumé before Selection Sunday.
The same type of finishes can be scripted for the other teams bunched with the Friars in the Big East standings. Butler (9-7), Creighton (8-7), Seton Hall (8-7) and Marquette (7-8) all are in position to make the NCAAs. League-leading Xavier and Villanova are in position to secure NCAA No. 1 seeds as two of the top four teams in the country.
“We’re all in the same boat and we’re all playing each other,” Cooley said. “I still think the Big East is going to be deserving of five or six bids. We just want to be one of those teams that’s going to be considered.”
The Friars should be kicking themselves after losing to DePaul at home two weeks ago and then letting Seton Hall waltz into both The Dunk and Alumni Hall and push them around for another loss. Put those games in the win column and Friars fans wouldn’t be so nervous these days.
“That’s an opportunity that we let pass by,” Cooley said, after the Hall loss. “Now we’re in the middle of a really tough league with [three] teams at 8-7 and one team at 7-8. We control our own destiny. Hopefully we can go down to Georgetown and be a lot more disciplined defensively.”
The Georgetown team that the Friars will face is one of the most improved in the Big East. After a 3-9 start, Patrick Ewing’s team has recorded wins over Seton Hall and Butler and led Xavier at the half before falling, 89-77. Jamorko Pickett is playing like one of the five best freshmen in the conference and helping vets Jessie Govan and Marcus Derrickson on a consistent basis.
The Hoyas had the Friars beat earlier this month at The Dunk but were ultimately denied after a 9-0 game-closing PC run That’s not a place Cooley wants to be on the road however. His team hasn’ played with any consistency for nearly a month Shooting comes and goes as does the spark that only Kyron Cartwright can light. The team’s ball screen defense is remarkably soft on some days The latest example came with Seton Hall’s Khadeen Carrington turning Cartwright, Alpha Diallo Maliek White and several Friars big men into dust as he dominated the conclusion of their Thursday afternoon game.
