Hence the category "non-profit. You have to get there with some fancy re-allocations. Done everyday by instutions across the country.
We'll see if the new tax bill changes the landscape. Charitable write -offs, including deducting season-ticket license fees, have gone the way of the dinosaurs for those who itemized.
PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

If they're flying the non revenue producing sports to Omaha and elsewhere for games, than no they aren't. Athletics cost a fortune, and thankfully the revenue producing sports assist with all the others to cover some costs. The arms race has gotten out of hand of course, and we're as caught up as anyone else (40M training center, all the state of the art training equip, chartered flights, etc)....It is what it is. Interestingly the much smaller schools with lower profile athletics seem most likely to make a meager profit, though I'm unsure where their income is coming from aside from maybe large donors, not sure if that is counted or not. Also reading the article specific to SU, which shows a ridiculous 20M profit (anyone believe that?) the article states they play with the numbers for tax reasons so this is likely accounting mumbo jumbo to make the numbers say what they need them to say.
