My favorite all time friar was Jimmy. He was so ahead of his time with all his incredible moves. I remember sneaking into Marvel Gym up at Brown when the friar freshmen team played. A team that went undefeated under Dave Gavitt and listening to all the games with Chris Clark on WPRO. That loss to Princeton along with the loss to Memphis State in the final four brings back heart breaking memories.

Love that video ... had never seen that.
My earliest Friars memories all revolve around Jimmy Walker. I never saw a game live in those days, but they were a lifeline during lonely winter days in a small town on Cape Cod that I was new to. To pick up channel 10 out of Providence we'd grab tight the pole that was strapped to the side of the house -- from the ground all the way up above the peak of the roof -- and physically turn it from its usual Boston-facing direction until the antenna pointed toward Providence.

For some, Friday's game will provide an opportunity to reminisce about the past of Alumni Hall - and at the same time, catch a glimpse of the Friar Development Center - which is staring to take shape.
