Great and deserving article, referencing the PC connection between both Doris and Jeff VanGundy.
And here I thought that we had "lost" Doris during the nationally televised "Keno Avis" debacle!
In retrospect, we never lost her - rather, she (and a few well healed alums with an ear to Fr. Shanley) snapped the line - on air, to "the bottom" from which the Ed Cooley-Era emerged.
Doris is a tremendous ambassador for PC.

Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Doris is another great example of what tiny PC has contributed to the hoops world. Proud of her. And she loves PC.

Keno Avis was Bilas...

Keno Avis was Bilas... Yep. You're right Walk. I forgot about those comments and had Doris pegged as being there with Bilas and McDonough

She did butcher us. My issue with what she did and said was that I feel a lot of if was a reaction to the firing of Tim Welsh, who she liked. It was nasty. Same from McDonough.

The reality is that Cooley wouldn't be winning as much here, nor would he have stayed this long IMO, with the facilities and travel budget that Welsh had. The "gym" at PC to work out in was a closet in the basement of Slavin. The court, which had no air conditioning for the summer months, had to be shared by every sport and the Dunk was getting dated by the end of the Welsh era. It's important to have perspective and Welsh probably did all he could at PC with what he was given. I think Cooley is another level above but there's no doubt he's had more advantages than Welsh had and I haven't even mentioned the "easier" Big East since 2013.

I was never a huge fan of TW, but this is a very true statement. Shanley, Driscoll and Cooley have been a perfect fit.

While the new BE has worked out, I wouldve loved to see cooley in the old one.

While the new BE has worked out, I wouldve loved to see cooley in the old one. Same. Current league isn't as stacked. Can also argue that Cooley would be landing more Top 100s selling games vs. Cuse, LVille, ND etc.
