Rotten move by Butler's former coach.

Kids pick coaches, not schools. I have no problem with this.

We really don't know how all of it went down. As an article in the Indy Star noted, it's the kid's life...nobody else's. Holtmann may have urged him to stay with Butler but if the kid really wants to play for him, what is he to do? Conversely, Holtmann may have cherry picked him from Butler and, if that's the case, karma is a snitch.
As I get older and experience more of life's joys and sorrows, I find myself having a tougher time criticizing a recruit's choice of school (unless, of course, there is financial dirty play involved). Presuming everything was on the up and up, good luck to the kid.

This is a business move. Now if I was a Butler fan, I'd be hissed and be dumping all over him. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

I do not blame the kid at all. And I get it is a dog eat dog world.Business is business. But---Butler gave this guy a chance to run a show and helped to get him where he is today. If I were Butler I would be hissed with the guy ,unless he did this after talking to me and handling things in a friendly and professional manner.

No problem with this whatsoever. Kid picked the school to play for the coach and his staff. If you're angry about this in any way you are a dingus.

Hey White pc71 clarified his remarks to the point that he hoped Holtmann acted appropriately with Butler and if so he was OK with the poach. Sounds reasonable to me but not for you apparently.
I looked up the word "dingus" that His Whiteness used to insult '71. No description could be farther from the reality of the man's intellect. Sometimes people disappoint us.

Now it has gone the opposite way. The Top 2018 recruit-4 Star for Ohio St. has decommited and reopened his recruiting. In fairness to Butler, it is a tough time to have a kid back out in late June. Usually one assistant remains when a coach leaves but the whole staff went to Ohio State. Maybe Butler will snag the decommit and take it full circle. www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-basketball-recruiting/2017/06/82934/2018-four-star-guard-dane-goodwin-announces-decommitment-from-ohio-state

White, Kid has every right to pick his school, as I stated before. My focus was on Coach H and how he handled things. You might want to reread and think about what I posted before responding. Let me put it to you this way.If Ed Cooley left PC and poached Kai and Watson on his way out the door,I have a feeling you would not be loving Coach Cooley . Agreed?

Apparently OSU was in his final two with Butler as well.

They're at PC because of Cooley, first and foremost. If they followed him to his next school what right would you or I have to be mad? We're all passionate but at the end of the day for us this is entertainment. For the players, it's a major life decision and they deserve to play for the coach that recruited them if they want. The fact that it's late in the game is neither the kid nor holmann's fault in this situation.

If Cooley "poached" Kai & Watson going out the door (you don't know Ed obviously, because he'd always take the high road), Cooley would be on our chit list. The two players used as an example would be dead to me, dex and a lot of other Friar fans on this board. And, btw, you are wrong thinking that "for us this is entertainment". We bleed Black & White here. We don't follow PC basketball because we want to be entertained. WE follow it because we love PC. Unlike you, evidently, our "passion" means a great deal more than freakin' entertainment. You want entertainment? Follow the Globetrotters. Friar Basketball is Family. Lesson #1. PIZZA, SODA, GRINDERS!!!

Thump - WhiteFriar's as committed a PC fan as your going to find, and was the catalyst behind the formation of FriarFantatics while a student at PC. In short, he's the 2009-version of many of the regulars over on this Board. No offense to any other Board, but I'd wish that he spend more time over here on Friartownhoops. Short of being my own son, he's family to me. '82
