Does anyone really think that Ed Cooley would coach against HIS kids TWICE next year? And with John Thompson looking over his shoulder??

If nothing else, this annual right of Spring continues to raise the salary-bar, as other schools set new benchmarks for competitiveness. Ed may have a "Contract for Life", but Bob Driscoll may need to evaluate the salary if schools continue to outbid competing Programs

Cooley has 4 or 5 blue chippers on the radar screen
Do you know how easy it would be for him to get those guys to Georgetown instead of PC?
Roll that around in your head a little
I say he is going nowhere and I doubt the Hoyas even ask

When Quinny is reportedly willing to go to 800K, you know these salary increases are going to continue to escalate. I think that's more than TW started at with PC (in old BE)?
Agree Dex, Cooley would clean up recruiting at Gtown.

...back from the bar...Cooley will be approached.. one of the guys I was with played his ball with jtiii... the other was on the nova 85 team and knows everyone...move was done with the old mans blessing provided he gets a say...expect Cooley, a maker, smart to be approached. Money is on smart if they can make it work financially.
Also got not so great news on our msg arrangement with the b10 coming to town.

The financials would have to be huge. Going from East Greenwich to Georgetown or Chevy Chase means selling a 900k house and buying one for 2.5 mill....not to mention the 50k a year you're shelling out for private school....

Can't believe Turgeon left A&M for MD...How is this different than any coach at Gtown and what school is cooley sending his kids to for $50K? Assuming they'd pay in the $3M range, I'm sure he could find a place to live, send his kids to school and have some $$ left over for dominoes....and he ain't paying for private school if that's the route he wants to go.
Smart is the guy they need...and would be a huge pull for the conference.

Chevy Chase doesn't have good schools? I have no idea, just know it's an affluent town.

Cooley's total reported compensation from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015 was $2,036,454. He signed his latest extension was signed nearly a year after that. I'd guess his actual total annual comp is in the ballpark of $2.5MM at the current moment. That probably doesn't include what he gets for the radio and TV shows, revenue from camps or any other advertisement/sponsorship deals he has outside PC.

At this stage of life, and at this degree of financial security, Ed Cooley only moves when 1) he's convinced he can't win a national title at PC while 2) he gets offered a job where he's convinced he can. Ten years in at PC and he sees it can't be done when wallah, he gets offered UNC, Duke or some similar level job. That's how I see it anyway.

If we have Cooley in a 'contract for life' aka long term, how does Cooley get out of it and take another job? I'm asking in seriousness, does he simply resign or is there more to it? I mean if we fire him we're expected to pay, what about the other way around?

Hey, one month ago we beat a team that is in the elite 8 and another that is one game away from the Elite 8. Just need a couple of things to break right. This year we may have been a sweet 16 team if Bentil stayed. Everyone knows about the previous years. (Led, Austin, Chukwu etc...). One of these years he is going to have the team that he has planned for. Next year may be that year.
Not saying he will never leave but he is a smart guy and knows what he has here.
